 廣南食檳榔先嚼蜆灰蔞藤津遇灰藤則濁吐出一口然後檳榔繼進所吐津到地如血唇齒頰舌皆紅安見甚駭而士人自若我貴賤老幼男女行坐咀嚼謂非此亦無以通殷勤焉於風俗珍貴凡姻親之結好賓客之款

　　海風票勿樹如幢，風吹樹顛結檳榔。
　　賈鬍相銜浮巨舶，動以百斛輸官場。
　　官場出這不留積，布散僅足資南方。
　　聞其入藥破痃癖，銖兩自可攻腹腸。
　　如何費耗比菽粟，大傢富室爭收藏。
　　邦人低顔為予說，濃嵐毒霧將誰當。
　　蔞藤生葉大於錢，蜆殼火化灰如霜。
　　雞心小切紫花碎，灰葉佐助消百殃。
　　賓朋相逢未喚酒，煎點亦笑茶甌黃。
　　摩挲蒳孫更兼取，此味我知君未嘗。
　　吾幫合姓問名者，不許羔雁先登堂。
　　盤奩封題裹文綉。個數惟用多為光。
　　聞公嚼蠟尚稱好，隨我啖此當更良。
　　支頤細聽邦人說，風俗今知果差別。
　　為饑一飯衆肯置，食蓼忘辛定誰輟。
　　語言混雜常囁嚅，懷袖攜持類饕餮。
　　唇無貴賤如激丹，人不詛盟皆歃血。
　　初疑被窘遭折齒，又怪病陽狂嚼舌。
　　豈能鼎畔竊硃砂，恐或遇仙餐絳雪。
　　又疑李賀哎心出，咳唾皆給腥未歇。
　　自求口實象為頤，頤中有物名噬嗑。
　　噬遇臘肉尚為吝，飲食在頤尤欲節。
　　酸醎甘苦各有臟，偏受辛毒何其拙。
　　那知玉液貴如酥，況是會池要清潔。
　　我嘗效尤進薄少，土灰在喉津已噎。
　　一身生死吒造華，瑣瑣誰能污牙頰。
