　　洛陽(今屬河南)人，遷居汝水以北，開元十二年進士。曾因張說推薦，任過短時期的駕部員外郎。詩多狀景詠物，宣揚隱逸生活。其詩講求對仗，亦帶有詩中有畫之色彩，其與王維友善，蓋“物以類聚，人以群分”或“近者赤，近墨者黑”故也。明人輯有《祖詠集》。
