周桓王，（生年不詳，卒於前697年）。姓姬，名林，東周第二代國王，他是周平王的孫子。前720年，周平王卒，太子姬狐由鄭國奔喪至洛邑，悲傷過度而死，子姬林即位，在位二十三年，死後謚號桓王。
周桓王初即位時，周天子的勢力還很強大，控製的地盤也大，相當於今天的河南省黃河以南的大片地區。此時與周相鄰的鄭國在鄭莊公的統治下日趨強大，常與周發生邊界衝突。桓王為顯天子權威，多次率兵伐鄭，結果均遭失敗。
尤其是前711年的伐鄭戰爭，周軍大敗，損失慘重，桓王也被射傷，險些被俘。此次伐鄭的失敗，使得周天子的威信一落千丈。
自
周桓王後，周天子的威信愈加低落，各大諸侯國之間爭霸的序幕已經拉開。
