周桓王，（生年不详，卒於前697年）。姓姬，名林，东周第二代国王，他是周平王的孙子。前720年，周平王卒，太子姬狐由郑国奔丧至洛邑，悲伤过度而死，子姬林即位，在位二十三年，死后谥号桓王。
周桓王初即位时，周天子的势力还很强大，控制的地盘也大，相当于今天的河南省黄河以南的大片地区。此时与周相邻的郑国在郑庄公的统治下日趋强大，常与周发生边界冲突。桓王为显天子权威，多次率兵伐郑，结果均遭失败。
尤其是前711年的伐郑战争，周军大败，损失惨重，桓王也被射伤，险些被俘。此次伐郑的失败，使得周天子的威信一落千丈。
自
周桓王后，周天子的威信愈加低落，各大诸侯国之间争霸的序幕已经拉开。
