亦單稱傳。記載人物事跡的文字。一般由他人記述，亦有自述生平者，稱"自傳"。傳記大分兩大類:一類是以記述翔實史事為主的史傳或一般紀傳文字;另一類屬文學圍，以史實為根，但不排斥某些想象性的描述。

指以描述人物故事為中心的文學作品[novel or story written in historical style]。如:《水滸傳》;《兒女英雄傳》；一般傳記性著作,尤指作為一種類型的這類著作
人物傳記的類
一、自傳傳記。這是某一個人物自己寫的記載自己的生活經的文章。記載自己前半生或大半生的生活經的一般稱為自傳，如《馬·吐溫自傳》，愛新覺羅·溥儀的《我的前半生》等。有些是以記載自己生活中的某些片斷或某一方面的經為主，這一般稱為自述，如《彭德懷自述》。
二、憶傳記。這類傳記的作者往往是被立傳者的親屬、朋友、同事或部屬，他們主要是通過自己的憶記載被立傳者的生平與事跡。
三、是訪傳記。這類傳記的撰寫人，一般與被立傳者原來並無交往，或者是與被立傳者相隔代的人，他們主要靠訪被立傳者的親友，搜集被立傳者的各類資料，然經過作者取、創造，形成傳記。如羅曼·羅蘭的《名人傳》、魏巍的《鄧中夏傳》等。
四、是自傳傳記和訪傳記融在一起的傳記。如聞名於世的瑞典電影明星英格麗·褒曼和美國作阿倫·吉伯斯作寫成的《英格麗·褒曼傳》。
五、在傳統的散文傳記外，還有一些特殊例的傳記。比如80詩人、學者風來滿袖所著的《被隱喻的四月——徐志摩詩傳》就是我國中國文學史上第一部詩傳記。
歸於本類的，以帝王將相和軍政界的人物為主，其餘人等，分入其它塊的相關類型。

The type of biography
First, autobiographical biography. This is a character in a written record of their own life experiences of the article.
