麯以地域分，有南麯、北麯；以作用分，有散麯、劇麯。散麯無科白，劇麯有科白。所謂科白，即動作和賓白。散麯又大為散套和小令。散套聯同宮調或管色相同之麯而成、首尾一韻；小令大多數為麯，每首各自為韻。小令有以下四：
一、尋常小令：指單闋之麯，為麯中至簡者，與詩一首、詞一闋相當。如黃節節高、賀聖朝。
二、摘調小令：指從套麯中摘出之麯調，有如詞中之摘遍，所摘之調必是套中精粹者。如中原音韻作詞十法所附定格四十首中之「雁兒落帶得令」，題下註一「摘」字即是。
三、帶過麯：即作者填一調畢，意猶未，再續拈一他調或二他調，而其間音律又適能銜接。北帶北如正官脫衫帶小梁州，南呂駡玉郎帶感皇恩、採茶歌，南帶南如雙調朝元歌帶朝元令，南北兼帶如南中呂紅綉鞋帶北紅綉鞋。
四、集麯：即集數調之美聲而腔可以銜接者次為一新麯，此南麯為盛。如仙呂九腸乃集解三酲首至七、三學士首至、急三鎗四至末而成。另一種集麯乃以一麯保留百尾而犯以他調，此亦南麯為盛，如仙呂二犯桂枝香乃桂枝香首至四、四季花四至、皂羅袍五至八、桂枝香九至末而成。（曾永義）

詞最初稱為"麯詞"或"麯子詞"，是配音樂的。從配音樂這一點上說，它和樂府詩是同一類的文學裁，也同樣是來自民間文學。來詞也跟樂府一樣，逐漸跟音樂分離，成為詩的体夫，所以有人把詞稱為"詩"。文人的詞深受律詩的影響，所以詞中的律句特多。
詞是長短句，但是全篇的字數是有一定的。每句的平仄也是有一定的。
詞大致可分三類：（1）小令；（2）中調；（3）長調。有人認為：五十八字以內為小令，五十九字至九十字為中調，九十一字以外為長調

Note:
