罗隐


  國興亡自有時,吳人何苦怨西施。
  西施若解傾吳國,越國亡來又是誰。

【赏析】   來詠西施的詩篇多把亡吳的根由歸之於女色,客觀上為封建統治者開脫或減輕罪責。羅隱這首小詩的特異之處,就是反對這傳統觀念,破除“女人是禍水”的論調,閃射出新的思想光輝。
  
    “國興亡自有時,吳人何苦怨西施。”一上來,詩人便鮮明地出自己的觀點,反對將亡國的責任強加在西施之類婦女身上。這裏的“時”,即時會,指促成國興亡成敗的各種雜因素。“自有時”示吳國滅亡自有其深刻的原因,而不應歸咎於西施個人,這無疑是正確的看法。有人認為這裏含有宿命論成分,其實是出於誤解。“何苦”,勸解的口吻中含有嘲諷意味:你們自己誤國大事,卻想要歸罪一個弱女子,真是何必呢!當然,挖苦的對象非一般吳人,而是吳國統治者及其幫閑們。
  
    “西施若解傾吳國,越國亡來又是誰?”後面這兩句巧妙地運用一個事理上的推論:如果說,西施是顛覆吳國的罪魁禍首,那麽,越王並不寵幸女色,來越國的滅亡又能怪罪於誰呢?尖銳的批駁通過委婉的問語氣述出來,絲毫不顯得劍拔弩張,而由於事實本身具有堅強的邏輯力量,讀來仍覺鋒芒逼人。
  
    羅隱反對嫁罪婦女的態度是一貫的。僖宗明年間(880—881),黃巢起義軍攻入長安,皇帝倉皇出逃四川,至光啓元年(885)返京城。詩人有《帝幸蜀》一首絶句記述這件事:“馬嵬山色翠依依,又見鑾輿幸蜀歸。泉下阿蠻應有語,這休更怨楊妃。”“阿蠻”即“阿瞞”的通假,是唐玄宗的小名。前一玄宗避安史之亂入蜀,於馬嵬坡縊殺楊妃以杜塞天下人口。這一僖宗再次釀成禍亂奔亡,可找不到新的替罪羊。詩人故意讓九泉之下的玄宗出來現身說法,告誡來的帝王不要諉過於人,諷刺是夠辛辣的。聯繫《西施》作比照,一詠史,一感時,題材不同,而精神實質並無二。這樣看來,《西施》的意義又何止為歷史作翻案而已!
