　　In 1937, Sino-Japanese War broke out, the Wu Han Professor at Yunnan University, applicants to post to the Southwest Associated University. Wu Han because of the growing dissatisfaction with the status quo, and gradually put into anti-Japanese democratic movement. July 1943, he joined the China Democratic League. During this period, wrote many historical essays, spicy touch to expose the dark rule of the Kuomintang.
　　August 1946, Wu Han return to Peking, Tsinghua University is still taught and served as chairman of the NLD in Peking.
　　Beijing After the liberation, Wu Han to participate as a deputy military representative to take over Beijing University, Qinghua University, and served as Deputy Director of Tsinghua University Council, History Department, and other functions. After 1949, served as vice mayor of Beijing, Chinese Academy of Philosophy and Social Studies Acdemy, Beijing Historical Society and other staff. He presided over the drawing Yang Shoujing change the "map of ancient opinion", and punctuation, "Mirror" work. Then chaired the Ding Tomb of Ming Tombs excavated. Wu Han attaches great importance to popularize knowledge of history, personally edited the "small series of Chinese history" and "small foreign history books."
　　March 1957, Wu Han and joined the CPC. September 1959, he published "On the Hai", "Hai Rui criticized the emperor" and other articles, to promote the spirit of dare to speak the truth. And New historical drama written in 1960, "Hai Rui Dismissed from Office." After Wu Han and Deng Tuo, Liao Mosha with "Miss Southern Star," pseudonym, in the "front line" magazine essay, "Three Village Notes" column, a tribute to the light of justice, remedy the ills for the purpose. In 1965, his masterpiece "The Emperor of" the fourth revised version published in the historical aspects of the use of historical materialism to new heights, with high academic value.
　　September 14, 1979, Beijing Municipal Auditorium in the cemetery, as Yuan Zhen Wu Han and his wife held a memorial service. In which a harness word writes:

　　Both husband and wife flew too,
　　Leaving only hung in the human jaw.
　　Peking University, now there is a pavilion to commemorate Han Wu Han.
