朱明月（1841-1868），原名张保山，贵州遵义县新舟人。曾办团练，因故被县令拘押。获释后，冒姓朱，取名明月，自称是崇祯皇帝第十代孙，前往思南白号军农民起义军大营拜见首领刘义顺。刘见
朱明月年轻机敏，有胆有识，遂向部属宣称找到了"真主"。清咸丰九年（公元1859年）四月，在贵州思南岑头盖拥明月为秦王，沿用杨龙喜的江汉年号，顺时为江汉六年。后与刘义顺率白号军西征，攻凤冈、遵义、湄潭、绥阳、桐梓、连连得胜。清同治四年（公元1865年），白号军农民起义推
朱明月为皇帝，改江汉十二年为嗣统元年，以正安为又一个根据地，恢复发展生产。
朱明月立志反清，机敏果敢，虽为"秦王"、"皇帝"，但常常亲临前线，披坚执锐、身先士卒，撤退时又殿后、掩护部属，深受将士拥戴。号军先后建立了思南岑头盖、荆竹园、偏刀水、玉华山等根据地。由于朝廷调集四川、云南及贵州的官军围剿，义军阵地先后被攻破，同治七年（公元1868年）8月，川军唐炯部攻陷上大坪，起义失败，突围时被俘，慷慨就义。
