就是我們都熟知的盤古開天地故事的主人公，傳說天地是由盤古用斧開的，這一故事到北魏，經酈道元傳入北方。從此，盤古由流傳於南方少數民族的神話，而展成為傳說中的中華民族共同的老祖宗。

盤古氏 中國古代傳說時期中開天地的神。盤古事跡初見於三國時徐整著的《三五紀》。其，題為南朝·梁·任昉撰的《述異記》稱盤古身體化為天地各物。根這些記載，天地原本渾沌得像一個雞蛋，盤古生在其中，過18000歲，然天地開闢，陽清者(意指蛋清部分)形成天，陰濁者(意指蛋黃部分)形成地。隨着天的增高，地的增厚，盤古也一天天增加身體長度。他的頭和四肢變成五嶽，血液和眼淚變成江河，眼睛變成日月，毛變成草木；他噓氣變為風雨，聲音變為雷霆，目光變為閃電；他睜眼是白天，閉目是晚上；開口為春夏，閉口為鼕；高興為晴天，生氣為陰天，等等。《述異記》指出，上述有關盤古的傳說，或出於古說，或産生於秦漢，或盛行於吳越之地，或為先儒之說；而古人為紀念他，在南海建有盤古墓，在桂林建有盤古廟。《三五紀》說盤古之高才口才奴才蠢才天才人才之才英才多才賢才群才唯才幹才詩才降才五才乏才文才懷才奇才才能才路才力才高才伐才格才望才理才思才郎才哲才智才雄才英才情才分才略才貌才人才子才疏出現三皇。
南方桂西一帶，今天還在民間流傳着這樣的《盤古開天地歌》：
盤古開天地，
造山坡河流，
洲來住人，
造海來蓄水。
盤古開天地，
分山地平原，
開闢三岔路，
四處有路通。
盤古開天地，
造日月星辰，
因為有盤古，
人才得光明。

Pangu's epoch-making period of ancient Chinese legend of the gods. Pan Gu story has shown signs of the Three Kingdoms, Xu whole with the "35 Li Chi." Subsequently, the Southern Liang Ren Fang essays entitled the "Shu Yi Ji," Gu said the body into the material world. "Shu Yi Ji" and noted that the above Pangu legend, or out of old said, or produced in the Qin and Han dynasties, or prevailing in the land of Wu and Yue, or Xianru of that; and ancient in his honor, Pangu built in the South China Sea tomb, built in Guilin disk temple. "35 Li Chi," and that only appeared after the Three Wise Kings Pangu.
