　　萧承之（384年－447年），字嗣伯。刘宋南兰陵兰陵人。
　　
　　少有大志，才力过人，宗室丹阳尹司马摹之、北兖州刺史司马源之都很看重他。萧承之初为建威府参军，义熙年间，谯纵被东晋平定，萧承之善于绥抚，迁扬武将军、安固汶山二郡太守。刘宋元嘉初年，徙萧承之为武烈将军、济南太守。
　　
　　元嘉七年（430年），右将军到彦之北伐大败，北魏乘胜击破青州诸郡国。别帅安平公乙旃眷进攻济南，萧承之率数百人拒战，击退魏军。魏军聚集济南城下，萧承之使偃兵开城门，用空城计。部下谏道：“贼众我寡，为何如此轻敌！”萧承之道：“今日悬守穷城，事已危急，若复示弱，必为所屠，惟当见强待之耳。”魏军疑有伏兵，遂引兵而去。第二年，征南大将军檀道济在寿张转战班师，滑台陷落，兖州刺史竺灵秀抵罪。宋文帝以萧承之有保全济南城之功，手书都督长沙王刘义欣：“承之理民直亦不在武干后，今拟为兖州刺史，檀征南详之。”萧承之与檀道济没有什么交情，兖州刺史没有当成。后来萧承之迁辅国镇北中兵参军、员外郎。
　　
　　元嘉十年（433年），萧思话为梁州刺史，萧承之为他的横野府司马、汉中太守。仇池首领杨难当进攻汉川，原梁州刺史甄法护弃城逃走，萧思话到襄阳不再前进。萧承之轻军前行，于黄金山击败仇池魏兴太守薛健。黄金山是东汉末年张鲁旧戍，南接汉川，北枕驿道，险固之极。薛健溃散，萧承之便据守之。仇池梁、秦二州刺史赵温先据梁州州城，听说萧承之至，退据小城，薛健退屯下桃城，立柴营。萧承之率军与之对垒，相距二里。薛健与仇池冯翊太守蒲早子全力出战，萧承之大破之。薛健等闭营自守不敢出战，萧思话继至，仇池乃稍退后。萧承之进至峨公山，与建武将军萧汪之、平西督护段虬，里外夹击，大破仇池。杨难当又派息和领步骑万余人，夹汉水两岸，援就赵温，攻逼萧承之，相拒四十余日。仇池军皆穿犀牛甲，刀箭不能伤。萧承之命军中断槊长数尺，以大斧捶其后，贼不能当，仇池军焚营退。萧承之追至南城，众军从后进攻，连战皆胜，梁州之乱平定。宋文帝诏曰：“承之禀命先驱，蒙险深入，全军屡克，奋其忠果，可龙骧将军。”随府转任宁朔司马，太守如故。
　　
　　入朝为太子屯骑校尉。文帝以平氐之劳，青州缺，将欲授用。彭城王刘义康秉政，萧承之不阿附，乃转为江夏王司徒中兵参军、龙骧将军、南泰山太守，封晋兴县五等男，食邑三百四十户。后迁右军将军。元嘉二十四年（447年）去世，享年六十四。梁州土著在峨公山立庙祭祀。升明二年（478年），赠散骑常侍、金紫光禄大夫。其子萧道成建立南齐，追尊为宣皇帝，葬于万安陵（永安陵）。
