　　昭武帝慕容盛（373年—401年），字道运，慕容宝的庶长子，母亲是夫人丁氏。年少时沈实敏锐，有很多谋略。当苻坚诛杀慕容氏时，潜逃投靠慕容冲。
　　
　　慕容宝被杀害后，慕容盛因为是兰汗的女婿，与妻子关系甚笃，非但得以不死，还被兰汗封做侍中。慕容盛乘机离间兰汗、兰提、兰难三兄弟，慕容盛派遣慕容奇在建安聚众讨伐兰汗，又反间兰汗杀兰提、兰难兄弟。兰汗派遣兰全反击慕容奇却被灭。兰穆出兵前大宴将士，兰汗父子喝得酩酊大醉，慕容盛与李旱等人趁机杀死兰穆。又引兵将兰汗乱刀砍死。为父复仇之后，慕容盛一度想斩草除根杀死妻子兰氏，母后丁氏不忍，进行劝阻，因此兰氏只被废黜。
　　
　　因此慕容盛即帝位，改年号为长乐，并诛杀幽州刺史慕容豪、尚书左仆射张通及昌黎尹张顺等人。
　　
　　慕容盛后来讨伐高丽、库莫奚有功。然治下太严，刑罚残忍，左将军慕容国与殿中将军秦舆、段赞等人密谋暗杀慕容盛，却东窗事发，众人皆被诛，军中大乱。最终平乱时，慕容盛本人却身中暗器，伤重不治，享年二十九岁，在位仅三年。慕容熙继位。
