　　昭武帝慕容盛（373年—401年），字道運，慕容寶的庶長子，母親是夫人丁氏。年少時渖實敏銳，有很多謀略。當苻堅誅殺慕容氏時，潛逃投靠慕容衝。
　　
　　慕容寶被殺害後，慕容盛因為是蘭汗的女婿，與妻子關係甚篤，非但得以不死，還被蘭汗封做侍中。慕容盛乘機離間蘭汗、蘭提、蘭難三兄弟，慕容盛派遣慕容奇在建安聚衆討伐蘭汗，又仮間蘭汗殺蘭提、蘭難兄弟。蘭汗派遣蘭全仮擊慕容奇卻被滅。蘭穆齣兵前大宴將士，蘭汗父子喝得酩酊大酔，慕容盛與李旱等人趁機殺死蘭穆。又引兵將蘭汗亂刀砍死。為父復仇之後，慕容盛一度想斬草除根殺死妻子蘭氏，母後丁氏不忍，進行勸阻，因此蘭氏衹被廢黜。
　　
　　因此慕容盛即帝位，改年號為長樂，並誅殺幽州刺史慕容豪、尚書左僕射張通及昌黎尹張順等人。
　　
　　慕容盛後來討伐髙麗、庫莫奚有功。然治下太嚴，刑罰殘忍，左將軍慕容國與殿中將軍秦輿、段贊等人密謀暗殺慕容盛，卻東窗事發，衆人皆被誅，軍中大亂。最終平亂時，慕容盛本人卻身中暗器，傷重不治，享年二十九歲，在位僅三年。慕容熙繼位。
