　　(885～926)，中国后唐开国皇帝，军事统帅。出生于晋阳（今山西太原西南），沙陀部人。唐河东晋王李克用之子。善骑射，少时随父出征凯旋，唐昭宗授检校司空、隰州刺史。后梁开平二年(908),袭晋王位。面对后梁、契丹的威胁，他翦除企图篡权的叔父李克宁，继而领兵击退围潞州（今山西长治）之梁军。他采取举贤、减税、安民等措施，治理河东，并把以沙陀部人为骨干的军队，整顿成为一支劲旅。针对当时藩镇割据之势，他先联合成德、义武（治今河北正定、定县）两镇以对抗后梁，待晋力量壮大后，灭大燕，兼并成德、义武两镇。后梁龙德三年(923)四月,在魏州（今河北大名东北）称帝，建后唐,改元同光。后唐同光元年(923)十月，亲率大军奇袭汴州（今河南开封），灭亡后梁。三年，灭前蜀。后唐统治确立后，他心满志骄，大修宫殿，疑忌将臣，亲信宦官，优宠伶人，日趋腐败。四年，刘皇后密令太子李继岌杀害谋臣郭崇韬，激起魏州等地兵变，李存勖在洛阳，因亲军哗变，中流矢而死。
　　
　　后唐庄宗李存勖（885年－926年），李克用之子。沙陀人，本姓朱邪氏，小名“亚子”，923年在魏州（河北大名府）称帝，国号唐，史称后唐。以勇猛闻名。
　　
　　生平
　　章回小说指李存勖与其他李克用的儿子合称“十三太保”，本来是唐末的将领。后来因为不满朱温篡唐而与之对抗。李存勖的用兵勇猛，使朱温大惊，他说：“生子当如李亚子，克用为不亡矣！至如吾儿，豚犬耳！” (译文:生子就要生像李亚子(李存勖)这样的人，所以李克用就不会灭亡啊！像我的儿子，个个猪狗不如呀！) （《资治通鉴》卷266）
　　
　　开平二年（908年）正月，李克用病死，李存勖继承其父李克用遗志，不但打败契丹，攻破燕地，并且消灭刘守光与刘仁恭父子的割据，并且于923年消灭后梁，统一北方，在魏州（河北大名县西）称帝，国号为唐。李存勖还收降了李茂贞建立的岐，并消灭王建所建立的前蜀。
　　
　　到了晚年，就与唐玄宗一样，自认为这辈子都在拼命，到晚年应该好好休息一下，遂荒废朝政。李存勖自幼喜欢看戏、演戏，常粉墨登场，并自命艺名“李天下”。伶人大受皇帝宠幸，李存勖又派伶人、宦官抢民女入宫，强掳魏州将士们妻女千余人，怨声四起。
　　
　　后唐同光四年（926年），皇甫晖在邺都叛乱，李存勖命李嗣源前往讨伐，石敬瑭也一同出征。在魏州城下，李嗣源的部队发生兵变，与魏州的叛军合兵一处，拥立李嗣源。李嗣源占据大梁（今河南开封），进军洛阳，先锋石敬瑭带兵逼进汜水关（河南荥阳汜水镇），李存勖决定亲征。
　　
　　这时担任指挥使的伶人郭从谦趁机叛变，火烧兴教门，存勖被流箭射中，王全斌将其扶至绛霄殿，渴懑求饮，宦官奉进酪浆，喝完一杯，遽尔殒命。王全斌大恸而去。一名伶人拣丢弃的乐器放在存勖尸体上，点火焚尸。史称兴教门之变。李嗣源入洛阳杀尽叛臣，葬存勖尸骨于雍陵，在大梁称帝，是为后唐明宗。

　　李存勖在未打下天下前，和后梁血战十余年，大小百余战，作战英勇异常。但会打天下，却不懂得治天下，宠幸伶人，重用宦官，又吝啬钱财，不懂抚恤士兵，三年即兵变被杀，失败之速，亦是罕见。
　　
　　北宋欧阳修写《新五代史·伶官传序》便是讨论李存勖沉溺逸乐、宠信乐官而致亡国的史实，说明“忧劳可以兴国，逸豫可以亡身”的历史规律。
