  "Children's Story" is a single by London-born American hip hop artist Slick Rick, from his album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. It is a tragic tale that can be interpreted as an implicit condemnation of violence and greed. It samples "Think (About It)" by Lyn Collins and "Nautilus" by Bob James. A testament to the influence of Slick Rick, his lyrics have since been sampled and reincorporated in countless hip hop songs. This song ranked #44 on About.com's Top 100 Rap Songs[1] and is ranked #62 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop[2].
  
  In 1996 this song was redone by Tricky on his album Nearly God. It was also done by Everlast, released on the 2000 album Eat at Whitey's. This song was also re-interpreted by Mos Def and his version appears on his collaboration album, Black Star, with Talib Kweli. It was also redone by The Game, his version was named "Comptons Story" and appeared on the Mixtape BWS Radio 5 in 2008, he uses an accent like Slick Rick's throughout the track.
  
  In 2004, "Children's Story" appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, on classic hip hop radio station Playback FM. The song was also featured on the True Crime: New York City soundtrack and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. Montell Jordan samples this song in "This Is How We Do It", as does Ol' Dirty Bastard in "Got Your Money". The lyrics "Knock 'em out the box" were also used in Star Wars Gangsta Rap. The song was also played in the film Notorious.
