　　齐湣王十三年（前二八八）十月，秦昭王自称西帝，尊齐湣王为东帝。由于苏秦的劝谏，齐湣王认识到称帝只对秦国有利，免去了主张秦、齐联合的相国吕礼，并取消了帝号。吕礼回到秦国。
