旧指有武艺、讲义气、专打抱不平的人。 茅盾 《子夜》十七：“近来 学诗 也喜欢什么武侠了；刀呀，枪呀，弄了一大批！”
【中国古代武侠作品】
即使是不提先秦诸子、史记汉书以及志怪、唐宋传奇、话本、民俗、戏曲之侠义人物和文艺，单就古典明清（尤其是清代以后到近代）侠义、公案文学，著名的就不胜枚举：
《水浒全传》、《包龙图公案》、《海刚峰公案》
清代后期：《三侠五义》、《儿女英雄传》、《施公案》、《彭公案》、《海公大红袍》、《海公小红袍》、《永庆升平全传》、《绿牡丹》、《圣朝鼎盛万年青》、《刘公案》、《狄公案》、《林公案》、《白牡丹》《正德下江南》、《英雄大八义》（大宋八义）、《小八义》（梁山后代）等侠义公案小说。
还有民国以后出现的《明清八义》、《三侠剑》、《雍正剑侠图》（童林传）、《五女七贞》等等，尽管从年代划分不属于“古典文学”，但也都属于传统侠义小说，多以曲艺说书形式流行.到了当代，由于小说、影视、戏曲、曲艺的发展，传统武侠文学被改编为评书、评话、弹词等各种形式的作品，不断丰富发展，续书也很多，比如《金刀黄天霸》、《白眉大侠》等。
【中国现代武侠的分派】
武侠小说之所以有新、旧两大派的说法，大抵是由新、旧文学之分而来。故范 烟桥著《民国旧派小说史略》特加点明：“旧派”主要是指章回体小说。然而此一 界定对於武侠小说而言，并无太大意义；因为凡是长篇武侠小说必分章回，无论其 为对偶、孤句或是长短不一的回目，皆不例外。
那么所谓“新派武侠”小说究竟何所指？笔者认为理应以作品的内容所表达的 新思想、新观念及新文学技巧而定，且缺一不可。就此来看五十年代以后号称“新派武侠小说创始人”的梁羽生作品，实在“新”得有限而不能成“派”。其所以获 此不虞之誉，盖因当时香港传播界竭力宣传鼓吹，以有别于大陆全面禁止的“旧派 ”武侠小说或香港本地泛滥成灾的“广派”武侠小说而言。
惟不可否认，自梁羽生、金庸先后崛起香江，武侠小说即在传统的基础上又有 所发展。香港方面，除梁、金二子外，另有蹄风、金锋、张梦还、牟松庭、江一明 、避秦楼主、风雨楼主、高峰、石冲等；而台湾方面则声势浩大，计有郎红浣、成铁吾、海上击筑生、伴霞楼主、卧龙生、司马翎（即吴楼居士）、诸葛青云、孙玉鑫、龙井天、墨余生、天风楼主、醉仙楼主、独抱楼主、蛊上九、古龙、陆鱼、上 官鼎、东方玉、曹若冰、南湘野叟、武陵樵子、慕容美、萧逸、古如风、向梦葵、 陈青云、柳残阳、司马紫烟、秦红、独孤红、温瑞安、贾羽等等（以上大略按其出道先后 排序）；云蒸霞蔚，极一时之盛。但其中具有代表性与影响力的武侠作家并不多，

“名士派”武侠先驱——梁羽生
梁羽生本名陈文统，一九二五年生，广西蒙山人。岭南大学经济系毕业，曾任 《新晚报》副刊编辑，文史造诣颇深。一九五四年陈氏以”梁羽生“为笔名，初于《新晚报》发表中篇武侠连载小说《龙虎斗京华》；其所用楔子、回目、笔法无一 不旧，甚至部分故事情节、人物亦明显套自白羽《十二金钱镖》。继写《草莽龙蛇传》，亦复如是。然与当时流行的广派武侠小说相较，却令人有一新耳目之感——这大概是标榜新派唯一能成立的理由。梁羽生对此并不讳言，自承：白羽的小说写民初各阶层人物，因为作者本人 入世极深，写来细腻，最合懂得人情世故的人看。可是我受生活经历的限制，气质又完全不同；要走正统道路吗？肯定不成功。於是只好自己摸索，走一条浪漫主义的路了。因有《七剑下天山》之作。《七剑下天山》据说是梁羽生取材於英国女作家伏尼契《牛虻》中的部分情节 ，而写天山派凌未风、易兰珠等男女弟子闯荡江湖、可歌可泣的传奇故事。全书共三十回，都四十余万言；由於其楔子所提到的少侠杨云骢出场便死，疑云重重，乃另作《塞外奇侠传》交代，是为前传；而书中又提及武当大侠卓一航与玉罗刹之间的情孽纠缠，曲折离奇，不遑细述，遂再作《白发魔女传》以补述前情。於焉这三部小说形成系列作品，而《七剑下天山》（一九五五年）则迈开了梁羽生《浪漫武侠》的第一步。严格说来，《七剑下天山》受到「北派五大家」的影响很深，无论是演武、写情或江湖切口、独门暗器，在在有脉络可寻，甚至还生吞活剥地大段抄袭白羽《十二金钱镖》。但梁羽生随机生发、借力打力，亦有不同前人之处；并由此建立其小说创作基型，兼具三大特色：
一、开名士派武侠新风-------从其处女作《龙虎斗京华》起，每书卷首例置一阙 词以寄慨；至《七剑下天山》则进而以名士派、才子（女）型人物为书中主角。从梁羽生小说即专写文武全才的英雄儿女，无不爱好诗词歌赋（有时未免浮滥）；卒使书剑交融成一片，成为其作品最大特色。
二、结合历史与武侠而发思古之幽情--------梁羽生首先掌握小说的基本时代背景，再配合故事情节发展而将历史上确实存在的人物一一穿插其间，或予以伐毛洗髓、脱胎换骨。如《七剑下天山》写顺治、康熙、多铎、纳兰容若、傅青主、冒浣莲（委托冒辟疆之女）等等。其事虽非历史之真，但经过文学处理后，却得「艺术之真」。从此梁羽生小说即与「历史武侠」结下了不解之缘；上起隋唐，下迄明清，形成其作品第二特色。
三、一贯以「天山派」武学为主流--------过去还珠楼主曾撰有《天山飞侠》一书，但高处不胜寒，未曾创立天山派。而自梁羽生《七剑下天山》起，如《塞外奇侠传》、《江湖三女侠》、《冰魄寒光剑》、《冰川天女传》、《云海玉弓缘》、《冰河洗剑录》等系列作品，无不以「天山派」武学为正宗、主流而贯穿全书。这种独沽一味的写法，实为武侠小说所仅见，由是形成其作品第三特色。虽然如此，但《七剑下天山》仍不足以称新派，只能说是开创了名士派或诗情画意派武侠小说；因为作者所用的文字、笔法、章回、素材以及思想、观念——从形式到内容都是「传统式」的；与旧中国北派五大家血脉相通，没有太大区别。相形之下，《塞外奇侠传》取材於蒙古民歌中女英雄飞红巾的传说，以作者自制的哈萨克民歌开场；仿朱贞木文白夹杂、不规则之小说回目，运用新文艺笔调写杨云骢、飞红巾、纳兰明慧的三角恋爱故事，反而不落俗套，清新可喜。
梁羽生一共创作了三十六部武侠小说，自认《萍踪侠影录》、《女帝奇英传》及《云海玉弓缘》三书是平生代表作。
《萍踪侠影录》以明朝土木堡之变为时代背景，写忠臣于谦孤军抵抗蒙古的悲剧；并穿插张士诚后裔张丹枫与宦门侠女云蕾之间的爱恨冲突。全书气势浩瀚，布局奇巧；特别是成功地塑造了名士派大侠张丹枫这个角色，藉由张丹枫个人侠士性格的自然发展，而彻底扭转了一家一姓争夺帝位的观念。作者将张丹枫这种面临民族大义与累世深仇非此即彼的心理挣扎，刻划得淋漓尽致；终而使其生命情操升华、净化，完善了「为国为民，侠之大者」的典型。
《女帝奇英传》以唐代武后（则天）临朝为时代背景，写宗室李逸为兴复唐室，落拓江湖，广交天下豪杰，而与才女上官婉儿、英雌武玄霜所交织的爱怨情仇故事。作者曲曲描述上官婉儿对武后由恨生敬、内掌诏命的过程；大胆为历史翻案，肯定武则天的施政「有益於国家百姓」，在传统观念上又是一项突破！而写李逸置身宫廷斗争、异族入侵的交相凌逼中，何去何从？亦超越了前人的格局与成就。此书以轻快的比剑对白开场，而以李逸功成身死收场，益发动人心魂。
《云海玉弓缘》以放荡不羁、亦正亦邪的金世遗为主角，描写他周旋在侠女谷之华与魔女厉胜男之间的爱情大悲剧。本书故事跌宕起伏，扣人心弦；惟最成功之处却是作者运用近代心理学的手法，来刻划金世遗那种愤世嫉俗的特殊精神状态，因此在金世遗身上有约翰?克里斯朵夫的影子；而厉胜男不顾一切地追求爱情自由，亦活脱是卡门的化身。金世遗一心痴想名门正派出身的谷之华，却在魔女厉胜男临死前的一刹那才觉悟：原来自己真正深爱的人是厉而不是谷。正是：此情可待成追忆，只是当时已惘然！之极限！无疑具有高度文学价值。
总之，梁羽生不论是写张丹枫、李逸、金世遗或其他小说主要人物，都充分现出中宵看剑楼主所题名句：「亦狂亦侠真名士，能哭能歌迈俗流。洵可称之为名士派武侠先驱而无愧。虽然他向西天取经较白羽晚了十七年，但却能自出机杼，更上层楼；以实则虚之，虚则实之的历史背景与人物带动武侠小说的巨轮前进，在剑气箫心中洋溢著一片历史感，而将历史武侠小说推向另一个高峰。
集综艺武侠之大成者——金庸
金庸本名查良镛，一九二四年生，浙江海宁人。早年曾先后於中央政校、东吴大学研读法律；历任《东南日报》记者、《大公报》编译、《新晚报》编辑以及长城电影公司编剧、导演。一九五九年查氏在香港创办《明报》，获得读者广大欢迎，却是与他写武侠小说驰誉中外分不开的。
一九五五年查良镛以金庸为笔名，继梁羽生之后，在《新晚报》发表武侠连载小说《书剑恩仇录》。他巧妙地运用民间流传清帝乾隆疑系海宁陈世倌（曾任文渊阁大学士）后人的说法，又杜撰出「红花会」（反清复明组织）总舵主陈家洛，作为乾隆的同胞兄弟。於是小说即在这样两极冲突、满汉对立的野史布局下展开；再穿插了陈家洛与霍青桐、香香公主之间的悲欢离合，极尽波谲云诡之能事。《书剑恩仇录》（新版改名《书剑江山》），共二十回，都六十万言；虽然仅只是金庸的武侠处女作，但文采斐然、对白传神；处理群戏场面，繁而不乱。啼声初试，即一鸣惊人！与梁羽生同时创作的《七剑下天山》比较，二人均善於结合历史传说而虚构人物故事；而金庸运笔不测，尤饶奇趣！其小说声口之佳，直逼白羽，且骎骎然有后来居上之势。
如果说《书剑》是金庸迈向成功的一小步，则越过虚实相映成悲、反讽农民起义的《碧血剑》（一九五六年），挟著史诗般大格局、大气魄的《射雕英雄传》（一九五七年）即一跃而登武侠小说的顶峰，不作第二人想！《射雕》是南宋末年天下大乱为历史背景，描写长春子丘处机为保全忠良义士遗孤郭靖、杨康（暗嵌「靖康之耻」），而与江南七怪打赌传艺所引发的一连串可歌可泣的故事。作者布局绝妙，以种种阴错阳差，安排郭靖自幼即随母远居大漠，刻苦自励，始终不忘家恨国仇；而杨康则随母进入金国赵王府，认贼作父，安享荣华富贵——这分明是脱胎自元代纪君祥《赵氏孤儿大报仇》的戏剧架构，却更有出奇的变化与发展。而就丘处机与江南七怪的所作所为来看，其一诺千金、不顾死生的精神，恰好构成一幅侠气峥嵘的《八义图》；便知作者寓意所在，用心良苦！
诚然，以通俗文学所要求的可读性与趣味性而言，《射雕英雄传》除若干情节未能自圆其说外，无疑具备了一切成功的条件——其故事之曲折离奇、人物之多种多样、武功之出神入化乃至写情之真挚自然，均为同辈作家所不及；即或偶有败笔，亦瑕不言而喻。在这部罕见的钜著中，金庸将历史、武侠、冒险、传奇、兵法、战阵与中国固有忠孝节义观念共冶於一炉；信笔挥洒，已至随心所欲的地步。全书浩然正气，跃然纸上，民族大义融贯了每一章节。是故，金庸乃以《射雕》一书而成不世之名，建立了他在当代武侠小说界的权威地位。虽然他自己并不满意这部「开宗立派」之作——七十年代初曾大事修改，增删为今传之四十回新版本，都百余万言，颇失原味——但持平而论，此后他力求自我突破、创新的武侠名著，尽管各有声华惊海宇，然以通俗文学所要表达的生命意义、价值及其整体规模、气象来看，均不逮《射雕》之博大精深。
《神雕侠侣》写至情至性的师生恋与大侠由偏入正的成长过程；
《连城诀》（原名《素心剑》）写尽人性之丑恶与贪婪之害；
《倚天屠龙记》写名实之辨与正邪错乱；
《天龙八部》写芸芸众生无人不冤，有情皆孽与民族仇恨所造成的悲剧；
《笑傲江湖》写权力令人腐化与政治斗争之残酷无情，等等。
这些作品纵或在某一方面超越了《射雕》的文学成就，但因刻意描写人性极限情境的种种变态行迳，遂不自觉地失去了《射雕》那种情理之中，意料之外的亲和力；而太多情理之外的特例，亦难免流於为变而变，令人匪夷所思；以致显得不真实、不自然。直到《鹿鼎记》（一九六九年）问世，以一个仅识武功皮毛而不学有术的小杂种，竟将天下英雄、历史人物玩弄於股掌之上；乃开中国武侠小说前所未有无剑胜有剑的新境界。金庸《鹿鼎记》之反武侠与塞万提斯《魔侠传》之反骑士最大的不同，在於两者创作动机：塞万提斯因痛愤当时西班牙人沉迷於骑士文学的浪漫故事，遂用反讽现实的手法写小人物狂想曲，教吉诃德到处碰壁，梦幻成空。而金庸却是出于向自我挑战心理，乃一反武侠传统，打破世俗观念，彻底解放人性；教韦小宝斗智不斗力，为了争取生存机会，无所不用其极！其实这正合孙子兵法所谓上兵伐谋之道，因而武功在此尽成虚妄；韦小宝机诈百出，到处招摇撞骗，竟无往而不利！
也许有人认为这是武侠无用论的明证，实则不然！正由于《鹿鼎记》写韦小宝运气太好、际遇太奇，万事绕不过一个「巧」字；加以又充满笑料，逸趣横生，遂自然而然淡化了反讽现实或反讽武侠的冷隽意味。它所表现的是浪漫文学之极致，「无」为「有」之用，在这部书里得到了最大的发挥。
迄至一九七二年九月《鹿鼎记》在《明报》上连载完毕，金庸宣告封笔（实则展开另一波全面修改旧作大工程）为止，他一共创作了十五种长、短篇武侠小说；但其中流传最广、影响最大的仍无过于《射雕英雄传》。该书博采还珠、白羽、王度庐、朱贞木各家之长，取精用宏，推陈出新，乃造就了金庸一代武侠宗师地位。其影响於当世者，大致有以下数端：
（一）《射雕》融合历史、侠情、武功、文艺、趣味於一书，建立了新一代武侠小说综艺」风格与典型。
（二）《射雕》统一用四字文句分章回；促使六十年代以后台湾武侠作家群起效尤，蔚为风气。
（三）《射雕》虚构的东邪、西毒、南帝、北丐、中神通等奇特人物及提法，悉为台、港武侠作家所宗，后更衍演成歌诀式江湖顺口溜。
（四）《射雕》在各地版本之多与伪续书之乱，亦令人叹为观止。
总而言之，金庸所建构的入世武侠神完气足，刚柔并济；与早年还珠幻设的出世武侠前后辉映，亦同臻雄奇壮美之境。特别是金庸灵活运用还珠小说中的奇妙素材，含英咀华，所过皆化；再采取西洋文学技巧及电影手法予以捏合，乃使武侠小说脱胎换骨，焕发新姿，普遍获得世人肯定与重视。凡此绝异成就，当然是跟金庸本身兼具深厚的文史素养与卓荦才华息息相关。正因如此，其同辈及后起武侠作家或以主观条件不足，便难乎为继；泰半只能遵循既往「帮会技击派」的路数，在江湖仇杀中讨生活了。
新派武侠宗师古龙
古龙生长于破碎的家庭，1952年父母离异，古龙独自住在台北县瑞芳镇，造成他的浪子个性。
少年时期嗜读古今武侠小说及西洋文学作品，古龙说“我喜欢从近代日本及西洋小说偷招”，师大附中初中部、成功中学毕业，淡江英专（即淡江大学前身）毕业后开始从事小说创作。
1949年发表第一篇短篇小说。
1960年始尝试写武侠小说《苍穹神剑》。当时，台湾侠坛卧龙生、诸葛青云、司马翎三人名噪一时。
1964年出版《浣花洗剑录》，是古龙武侠小说的一个里程碑，代表著他武侠创作的成熟期。
1967 年所写的《铁血传奇》（首三部楚留香传奇），集武侠、文艺、侦探、推理于一身，阅读起来有如“福尔摩斯探案”。一生创作大量武侠小说，其中《浣花洗剑录》、《楚留香传奇》、《多情剑客无情剑》（也就是香港无线电视剧《小李飞刀》的原著）、《绝代双骄》、《萧十一郎》、《七种武器》、《陆小凤传奇》、《三少爷的剑》、《欢乐英雄》、《白玉老虎》等作品，广受读者欢迎。到了创作后期，他依然不断求变，多次说“武侠小说到了要变的时候”；曾在小说中渗入散文的句法，写出《天涯明月刀》等小说。然而，这类作品并不为读者与批评家所欣赏。
古龙嗜酒，常牛饮，1970年代末年染上肝病，健康逐渐走下坡路。
1980年代初在北投吟松阁饮宴时遭人砍伤，失血2000cc。
1982年5月，古龙与华视签了两年的制作人合约。
1985年9月21日因肝硬化引起食道瘤大出血，撒手人寰，享年49岁。出殡时，友人林清玄在他的棺材里放了48瓶XO酒(威士忌)陪葬。其中一副挽联是：“小李飞刀成绝响，人间不见楚留香”。
古龙生前情归多处，学生时代即与舞女郑莉莉同居，后来又迷上舞女叶雪，不久又跟高中生梅宝珠结婚，最后以离婚收场，第二位夫人是于秀玲，长伴至古龙病逝。古龙的大弟子丁情说：“因为古大侠寂寞，所以他便追求新奇，所以他的婚姻不能长久。古大侠生性是浪子。” 古龙与49瓶XO共葬于台北极北之地北海明山墓园。
古龙去世后，小说的版权纠纷开始由法院审理。
2005年，台湾淡江大学举办第九届文学与美学国际学术研讨会，主题为武侠小说，集中讨论古龙的作品。之后林保淳编了一部论文集，由学生书局出版：《傲世奇才一古龙：古龙与武侠小说国际学术研讨会论文集》。
影视改编方面，古龙多部小说极受导演青睐，不断改编成电视、电影，当中包括《楚留香》、《多情剑客无情剑》、《绝代双骄》、《陆小凤》等。在邵氏年代，楚原拍摄的古龙作品最多。
“清宫派”武侠名家——蹄风及其他
蹄风本名周叔华，上海人，生卒年不详；原为「广派」武侠老作家之一，但地域色彩并不甚浓，曾写过《血战古兜山》、《勇闯十三关》及《海南侠隐记》等短篇武侠小说。在所谓「新派」武侠崛起之际，蹄风亦别走偏锋，以边疆民族传说为题材而撰《猿女孟丽丝》、《天山猿女传》等书，由是声名渐著。嗣后，从一九五六年起，蹄风陆续推出《游侠英雄传》（即台版《四海英雄传》）、《游侠英雄新传》、《龙虎恩仇记》、《清宫剑影录》及《武林十三剑》等系列作品，紧紧扣住「反清复明」的故事主题；演叙青龙会联合天下剑客、奇人，与江南八侠共同对付「魔王」雍正之始末，以及清宫诸皇子为夺帝位、尔虞我诈之内斗，长达百余万言。由於故事情节曲折离奇，武打紧张热闹，乃轰动一时。蹄风挟此「清宫派武侠」和金庸、梁羽生早期作品互争雄长，几有鼎足而立之势。《游侠英雄传》显然深受郑证因「帮会技击派」小说影响，故一开场就大谈中国武术源流，兼论内外家功夫之长短；书中对於清初秘密帮会活动情形，缕述甚详。此一系列小说旁参野史、传说，原本格局甚大；惜因作者缺乏新文学技巧，从头到尾都以旧氏说书人的口吻「说书」；故个别情节虽波澜起伏，引人入胜；然整体看来，不无枝蔓杂生之感。其未能获得较高评价，症结在此。
此外，又有金锋、张梦还、牟松庭、高峰等以武侠小说鸣世，亦值得一提。
金锋本名张本仁，一九二七年生，原籍广东。初以毛聊生为笔名，杂抄北派五大家作品撰广派武侠小说，成书不计其数，但俱无可观。后改笔名为金锋，自出机杼，写下《虎侠擒龙》等十五种长、短篇武侠小说，多半具有历史背景；其中尤以《西域飞龙传》、《天山雷电剑》、《冰原碧血录》、《子母离魂剑》四部曲为代表作。然此一系列穿插清宫秘辛与香妃故事，乃至描写边疆风情等等，或多或少都曾受到金庸、梁羽生及蹄风同类作品之影响，殆无可疑。而作者以「抄书」成名，实为异事。
张梦还本名张扩强，一九二九年生，原籍四川；系中央军校二十二期炮科毕业，因故留港而以写作为生，曾任《明报》编辑。一九五七年张氏在《武侠小说周报》发表《沉剑飞龙记》，以明初学士方孝孺后人方龙竹复仇故事为经，武林门户之争为纬；文情跌宕有致，状声状物均极见精神。此书分为二十三回，都四十万言，堪称杰作；可惜结尾还珠化，令人突兀，未免美中不足。在香港众多武侠作家中，张梦还的文字功力直追金庸，而与梁羽生在伯仲之间。同时他也是最迷还珠（梦还），并善於提炼《蜀山》奇妙素材之佼佼者。惟其所受影响太深，故继作《青灵八女侠》、《十二女金刚》等书，便明显有《蜀山》峨眉派诸女的影子在内，此亦无可讳言。张氏迄今已结集成书的武侠小说共有十二部，水平殊不一致；然以争夺武学秘笈而导致各大门派对立的写法，则别开生面，领先潮流，当与金庸首创争夺「天下第一」的写法有异曲同工之妙——虽然此后这种「花招」被人一用再用，已流於公式化之滥套矣。
牟松庭生平不详，文笔古茂洗练，博闻广识，仿佛平江不肖生。一九五七年左右，写下《关西刀客传》、《红花亭豪侠传》、《张文祥刺马》等书。其中尤以《红花亭豪侠传》（台版改名为《洪门英烈传》）之演武叙事、重情尚义、行军布阵、反讽世态，无不精彩纷呈！作者兼有《水浒》与《三国》笔法之长，行文不测，豪气迫人！惜其作品不多，否则成就当在梁羽生之上，而可与金庸比肩。
高峰（非高小峰）生平亦不详。观其《高原奇侠传》、《蟠龙剑客传》、《五岳豪侠传》诸作，文情不俗，略似蹄风清宫派小说。至於香港其他武侠作家如专写女侠传奇的江一明，以及风雨楼主、避秦楼主、石冲等，俱乏善可陈。而谓新派竟出现将古人诗赋意译为白话文者，则其荒唐程度不言而喻，也就无深论了。
之后又出现了玄幻武侠时代。创始人黄易。
代表作家-黄易、莫仁。代表作品《大唐双龙传》、《星战英雄》。
新武侠时代的热潮渐渐冷却，古龙去世，金庸封笔之后相当长一段时间里，武侠文化进入低谷。玄幻时代悄悄的来临了。
玄幻的武侠作品开始广泛的应用气势、预测、环境衬托等手段将武功的能力再次放大。尤其是莫仁的作品《星战英雄》系列中描写的对内力（能量）进行压缩以及对人体经脉的扩张等创新被广泛应用。
【近代新锐武侠作家】

郑丰，生于台湾、现居香港的郑丰，原名陈宇慧，祖父是蒋介石时代的“副总统”陈诚，父亲是台湾监察院前院长陈履安。郑丰介绍说，自己写武侠小说主要是受父亲的影响。“父亲虽然做过台湾前监察院院长，却是个活泼的人，极爱看武侠小说。我刚开始识字时，他就介绍我看金庸小说。”在父亲的熏陶下，郑丰自小就爱读历史。明朝“青帮”的资料，更成为她日后撰写武侠小说的基本素材。十多岁时，父亲就送她金庸小说全集做生日礼物。“平时他甚少追问我功课进度，但一开口就是关心我读完武侠小说没有。”小学未毕业，郑丰就读完了金庸全集，也燃起了自己创作武侠小说的欲望。不过，在台湾高中毕业后，郑丰就考入美国麻省理工学院，后来，由于读书工作压力大，写武侠的念头一直无法实行，但她的梦想一直没有断过。1997 年新婚不久，丈夫被派往英国，郑丰也跟随丈夫来到伦敦。在没有工作的日子，郑丰一个人窝在小公寓里，构思出了《多情浪子痴情侠》的故事轮廓。一年后，郑丰回到香港，加入荷兰银行，成为荷银董事，负责可换股债券。数十万字的作品也就被遗忘在电脑里了。一天，在家休产假的郑丰无意中重读自己的作品，才开始重新改写。
2000年至2004年间，郑丰生下两个儿子和一个女儿。三个产假，她一边照顾小孩，一边完成 80万字的小说。随后，郑丰带着书稿去过几家出版社自荐，但出版商多不理睬新人，所以她很快打消了出版的念头。直到有一天，郑丰从朋友处得知，国内的文学网站红袖添香和中华书局(香港)正在联合举办一个网上武侠小说创作比赛。于是，她以“郑丰”的笔名，把全书三百多回，一回一回地放上网站。她的作品很快得到了300万的点击率，在逾千部作品中脱颖而出，得到最高奖和“最受欢迎作品奖”。许多读者最初是从网上读她的武侠小说的，男性化的署名“郑丰”误让读者一位她是一位男作者，知道获奖揭晓，网上刊出她的照片，才知道这是一位“女版金庸”。
郑丰说，“我知道武侠小说创作已经是个不大合潮流的梦想了，但我仍愿做此一梦，为武侠创作付出时间心血，只盼能为世间多写出一部可读性高的传统武侠小说！”而她也身体力行，尽管有四个小孩要照顾，但仍以“郑丰”的笔名“行走江湖”。
马舸
马舸，吉林省作家协会会员。1969年2月8日生于吉林省长春市。自幼酷爱读书。考入吉林工业大学机械系，93年学业期满，就职于中检公司。一年后，自觉年华虚掷，遂弃职还家，开始武侠创作。悠悠五载，壮心在怀，不言利、不成家，殚思竭虑，笔耕不辍。幸有友人慧眼识珠，阅其文稿，许为“自金庸封笔之后，大陆之最得武侠精髓者”，力荐至作家出版社出版发行。数载纯功，终为人识。

马舸的知名度不是很高，但我们却能从他的作品中读出一种大家风范来。也许是他对人性的刻画太过真实直白，也许是媒体对他的宣传远远不够，我总觉得的才气远远超出他的声名，但是现在仍有很多读者不知道他，这实在是武侠界的悲哀！他的文字古朴浑厚，意境悠远，就如一碗浓汤，令人回味无穷。此外，他对人性的刻画达到了一个新的高度，结构布局也绵密有序，每部作品都堪称佳作。马舸其人则更像一位隐士，称他 “侠隐”也不为过。武侠界确实太需要他这样的人才了，试问金古之后，还有几人能撑起武侠这片天地？马大侠真是任重道远啊！

步非烟
步非烟，原名辛晓娟，出生于四川成都，毕业于北京大学中文系，2006年获得北京大学古代文学硕士学位。2004年起，在《今古传奇》、《武侠故事》、《新武侠》、《武侠小说》上发表作品数十篇上百万字。2005年中进入出版市场，现已出版作品 10余部。其写作风格以武侠和魔幻色彩交相辉映为长，故事性与文学性兼重的写作特色以及学历背景，拥有以期刊读者为基础，但又广泛于期刊读者，因此在以初中～大学的青少年为主的读者群基础上，更受到大学以上的高学历人群追捧，是近年来最具实力和号召力的新锐青春偶像派实力作家。

浴红衣，80后女子，曾任红袖添香网站责任编辑、出版公司专职编辑，现在国内知名游戏设计公司从事游戏设计。
热爱武侠，笔名来源于《射雕英雄传》中“九张机”。
2005年活跃于网络从事玄幻小说创作，作品《绾青丝》获得业内一致好评，部分章节被国内知名期刊收录。
同时开始武侠创作，任红袖添香论坛武侠版块“挥剑问情”斑竹，作为知名武侠网络社团“妖天下”创始人之一，其武侠作品受到大量作者以及读者追捧。
2007年《绾青丝》出版，其古典凄美的叙述风格，奠定了浴红衣大陆柔情女子武侠掌门人的地位。
2008年出版的《逍遥扇》是浴红衣真正意义上的长篇武侠作品，她在接受采访时表示：“其实，我从来没写过武侠的长篇，这次算是一个尝试。这个故事是写一个为江湖正派视为邪门歪道的门派，在腥风血雨的江湖中，每一步都坚持着自己的性情和使命，不低头，不绝望，不后退，同时这个故事还表现了一种团结向上的精神，是写一个集体的沉浮，不像当下的武侠小说那样，往往是宣扬一种个人英雄主义。这部武侠小说我想表达的所有思想和感情都在文章开始那一句话里了。”
如今，从事网络游戏设计的她，正努力将武侠与游戏结合，让每一件兵器都如同小说一般优雅。
浴红衣更习惯把自己定为玄幻写手，而非武侠写手。在访谈中。她表示，大多数人将她的文章定义为新武侠，而她心目中的新武侠要有深刻的寓意为核心、漂亮的文字做包装、曲折而扣人心的情节是支撑、而贯穿始终的要有一份让人牵挂的情感。当然最好的是能够有现实意义的那种，与当前社会的发展和变迁能够有巧妙联系的。
贾羽
贾羽，1961年出生，著有散文、诗歌、小说共计一千余篇（部）。曾为人代笔撰写长篇武侠小说二十六部，正式出版十七部。2008年由宁夏人民出版社出版《入世龙蛇》《碧血天涯》《仙功奇缘》。
贾羽的武侠小说，属于玄幻、魔幻加神话范围，往往情节离奇得令人无法相信，主人公往往武功高深莫测、死而复生。唯一的不足是结构不够严谨。
沧月
沧月，女，原名王洋，79年生，浙江台州人。偶尔看见一套《七剑下天山》的连环画，开始了对武侠十几年的迷恋。于是在成长中有选择的看书和积累，为了将来能写出自己的武侠。后来，由于父母劝告和学业压力，一度放弃武侠写作。
2001年开始混迹于榕树下、清韵书院等各大武侠BBS，灌水，发文章，一年多来渐渐有了不少网络读者。2001年在《大侠与名探》杂志举办的网络新武侠征文中，以《血薇》一篇获得优胜奖，并陆续在《今古传奇》、《大侠与名探》、《热风武侠故事》等杂志上发表武侠中短篇。
2002年末，连续在台湾和大陆出版武侠作品《幻世》《沧海》《雪满天山》《听雪楼系列》等等，同时顺利通过了入学考试，在浙大开始建筑设计专业的研究生深造。
先以武侠成名，后转涉奇幻写作，均取得好成绩，多本各个出版社编的2002、2003年度网络佳作选编均收入所写的文章。 2003年入驻榕树下状元阁，文章在网上流传广泛，拥有大量读者。
以此为平台联系上了传统媒体，开始给《今古传奇·武侠》，《今古传奇·奇幻》、《科幻世界·奇幻》、《大侠与名探》、《白桦林》等杂志写文。从武侠板创刊时期就与其合作，三年后武侠板发行量到了一个月40多万册，是目前武侠奇幻期刊市场中最受欢迎的写手之一，受到百万读者的喜爱。
2004年，获得今古传奇主办的全国大学生武侠小说比赛第一名，同时获得温瑞安设立的首届“神州奇侠”奖。

水蝎佳人
水蝎佳人，女，原名黄芳。出生于烟雨江南，被读者亲切称为蝎殿。大学学习的是国际经济与贸易、应用心理学两个专业。因为对金庸的崇拜，痴迷武侠。学生时代作品多以手本在学校流传，大学毕业后方正式踏足文坛，开始在各类网站、杂志发表作品，毕业一年后开始出版长篇作品。作为大陆新派少女武侠写手的她，目前在一家省级媒体从事新闻谈话类节目策划、新闻专题节目采编和时政新闻采访。痴迷于创作的她，利用业余时间写小说，目前已在《今古传奇》言情版、《火花》玄幻版、《浅爱》等武幻、青春类刊物发表作品十余万字，著有近百万字长篇小说。作为80年代中期出生的写手，受80后文学影响，水蝎佳人以清澈澄明的文风、幽默轻松的语言、华丽清爽的描写、简洁明快的情节而大受青少年读者喜爱，成为07年以来迅速崛起的新派少女武侠写手。

方白羽自述：庆幸儿时有个博闻强记的祖母，三国、西游、封神的故事从小就耳染目濡，再加生性好表现，在同龄孩子中是爱讲故事的好手。稍大，开始痴迷于各种小说，尤其是武侠小说。谈不上爱好文学，只不过喜欢那些虚无缥缈的故事，一直沉溺其中。九十年代初山东大学电子系毕业后，听从祖国召唤去了遥远的边疆。大西北辽阔的戈壁沙漠开阔了我的心胸，跳出城市的喧嚣，第一次体验那天苍苍、野茫茫的感觉，极目四顾，前不见人影，后不见兽踪，这时才知道：人，其实很渺小。几年后回到家乡，继续为祖国服务，再没有少年的轻狂，多了份无奈的成熟，藏起真实的自我，像钟表一样，按固有的节律滴答着生活，只有在夜深人静的时候，遥望茫茫苍穹，心中总有暗潮涌动。半年前开始码字，用指头堆砌对生活的感悟，都说武侠是成人的童话，就用童话来述说人的悲欢离合，其实无论是童话还是现实生活，人性的光辉丑陋都有共通。从来没有学过写作，更不会用文字粉饰生活，相信只有来自心灵的声音才能引起共鸣，真情铸就的文字才能得到读者的认可。我写作，为自己，也为大众。
文坛外的武侠黑客，N维幻想终极探索者。2001年开始混迹于网络江湖之内，游走在武侠、玄幻之间，以超过百万字的作品称霸武林。因为《大赌坊》、《铁血密捕》等系列，重新建构金古梁温后的乱世江湖，被《武侠故事》评为“四大武生”之一；因为《游戏时代》系列首开网游幻想小说先河，当仁不让地成为今古传奇《奇幻》杂志的首席码字客，奇幻界的魔武双修师。

凤歌
凤歌，本名向麒钢，重庆奉节人氏，大陆武侠著名作家，杂志编辑，今古传奇暨黄易武侠文学一等奖得主。代表作品《昆仑前传》、《昆仑》、《沧海》。 1977年8月出生于夔州古城，游学天府之国，而今寄居江城武汉，编稿为生，常自恨才拙，笔耕五载，未敢疏懒，然仅得《昆仑》一部，《曼育王朝》半部，科幻短篇若干。负登天之志，乏兰台之才，虽信大道酬勤，惜乎知易行难，聊以自解而已。
清韵书院凤歌专栏中凤歌写到：
“ 藐姑射之山，有神人居焉。肌肤若冰雪，绰约若处子；不食五谷，吸风饮露；乘云气，御飞龙，而游乎四海之外。”
——《庄周·逍遥游》
这段话出自楚狂接舆之口，时人惊怖其言，认为“大而无当，往而不返”，“犹河汉之无极。大有径庭，不近人情。”
但我崇拜，崇拜“大而无当，往而不反”的想象，也渴望自己的思想突破一切的藩篱，“乘运气，御飞龙，而游乎四海之外！”尽管与现实有所背离，“大有径庭，不近人情”。～8～
坦率地说，现实让我“惊怖”，现实之缰让思想的骏马失去了自由。我宁愿停留在历史，或者跃迁到未来，当然，仅仅是思想。武侠“惊尘溅血流千古”，它是对历史的想象；科幻是对未来的想象，它总是在和科学的巨人赛跑。所以，当我寻求思想寄托时，除了武侠，便是科幻了。
以上观点或许对了，也或许错了，但无论对错，我都只是一个普通的朝圣者，通过思想的原野，向姑射之山进发，这是想象力的旅程，每一次的举步，后脚融进了历史，前足则迈向未来。也许，我永远不会到达，但对地球上某个傻瓜来说，这是世界上最奇妙的旅行，愉悦的荷尔蒙，构成了他前进的原动力。
2006年12月，凤歌凭借《昆仑》一书荣获武侠图书界最高奖项——今古传奇武侠文学奖一等奖。多家媒体评论，这基本确立了他作为大陆新武侠小说领军人物的地位。但是对于这一点，他自己却有点不以为然，“我不觉得有新武侠小说这个文学派别，可以说大陆这帮写武侠的年轻人，没有哪一个不是受前辈大师的影响，拿我本人来说，我也是从模仿金庸开始的。而且因为年龄的原因，到现在没有哪个作者写作的年龄超过了5年，在这样短的时间内，想成为独立的派别是不可能的。只有15部作品的金庸都写了近20年的武侠，更不用说古龙、梁羽生这些有着数十部作品的作家了。因为我们没有有分量的作品出来，文学派别的存在是要靠作品来说话的。”
时未寒
时未寒，四川人，原名王帆。生于70年代，大陆新武侠代表作家之一。
2000年底开始写作，至今已在各类杂志上发表作品近两百万字，出版有长篇小说《碎空刀》《偷天弓》《换日箭》等。
时未寒文风璀璨华丽，故事凄丽感人，结构绵密大气，从精彩而富创意的武打、灵活生动的性格描绘、曲折多变的情节布局中，可见其拥有不凡的功力。其代表作“明将军系列”以金戈铁马、英雄气概和技击的阳刚之气，在大陆新武侠作品中独树一帜，被誉为“大陆新武侠扛鼎之作”。

平平凡凡
平平凡凡，艺名李名扬，广东汕头人，武侠新星、喜剧编剧、翻译员。
多部剧本被影视界改编拍摄。武侠小说代表作有《武林大会》、《多情的时代》、《洛阳梨花看剑》。
