中國舊小說的一種.指以俠客,義士的故事為題材的作品.始見於唐代傳奇中的部分作品,以及宋、元時期“搏刀”、“趕棒”之類的話本。至晚清，逐趨成熟，齣現了《三俠五義》、《彭公案》等作品.早期多以描寫主人公路見不平,拔刀相助的內容;後期則為統治階級所利用,多與公，案小說合流,以維護封建統治秩序.
俠義小說是武俠小說的一個旁支。在互連網上俠義小說並不流行是在現實生活中，電視裏俠義改編的小說卻多如牛毛，皆是因為互連網上的小說大多難以實現拍片因為太過天馬行空。或者因為電視臺的管理層都不曾發現有很多好的其他小說為人們所喜歡。
