庫切（John Maxwell Coetzee），1940年出生於南非開普敦，小說傢、文學評論傢、翻譯傢，大學教授。於2003年獲得諾貝爾文學奬，主要作品有《等待野蠻人》（1980）、《邁剋爾・K的生活和時代》（1983）、《彼得堡的大師》（1994）、《童年》（1997）、《恥》（1999）、《青春》（2002）、《伊麗莎白・科斯特洛：八堂課》（2003）等。
 

John Maxwell Coetzee (/kʊtˈsiː/)[a] (born 9 February 1940) is a South African-born novelist, essayist, linguist, translator and recipient of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature. He has also won the Booker Prize (twice), the CNA Prize (thrice), the Jerusalem Prize, the Prix Femina étranger, The Irish Times International Fiction Prize, and holds a number of other awards and honorary doctorates.

He is one of the most critically acclaimed and decorated authors in the English language.

Coetzee relocated to Australia in 2002, and currently lives in Adelaide. He became an Australian citizen in 2006.
