Zheng Chouyu, whose real name is Zheng Wentao, origin of Hebei, was born in Jinan, Shandong Province in 1933.
Zheng Chouyu childhood traveled with his father when the soldier reported from China, Great Wall. During the war, with the mother Zhuanxi mainland refuge on the way her mother taught reading ancient poems. Zheng Chouyu began writing poetry 15 years of age, with his family to Taiwan in 1949 while studying writing. National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan in 1955 after graduating in Taiwan published a first book of poetry, "land of dreams." Modern poetry in 1963, became a key member. In 1968, Zheng Chouyu 35 years old was invited to Iowa to participate in "International Writing Program," received the 1972 Creative Arts at the University of Iowa master's degree and stayed to teach in the Department of Chinese, the following year transferred to Yale University, in East Asia Language and Literature Department as Senior Lecturer at Yale in the current school senior Chinese poet and teacher.
