　　生平
　　张丙祖籍福建漳州南靖梅林坎下，其祖父于乾隆年间移居台湾嘉义县店仔口庄(今台南白河镇白河里及永安里)。
　　
　　1832年夏天大旱加上清廷的台湾嘉义知县邵用之治事无方，作为农民领袖的张丙于是在同年10月“竖旗起义”，占领台南县大部分县市与云林斗六门（今斗六）一带，建国号为天运，自立为开国大元帅，期间并聚集数万名的兵力，强攻盐水港，并在此役造成清廷知府吕志恒，把总朱国珍，副将周承恩等人死亡。
　　
　　因当时清廷治台不力，张丙一起，凤山与彰化各有许成与黄城率众反抗官府。不过因为张丙久攻嘉义不下，加上王得禄，刘廷斌等人反制，致使动乱渐平。同年12月，张丙及其部属因事败被捕，隔年1月，张丙连同数百名部属遭清廷杀害，至此历经3个月的张丙事件，终告落幕。
