姒仲康，姓姒，名仲康，又作中康。中國王族分封時代夏王朝的四任王，他的祖父是夏王朝首任王姒禹，父親是二任王姒啓。夏王朝三任王姒太康是他的兄長。
姒仲康是二任王姒啓的第四個兒子，約生於虞舜三十九年（壬申，前2089）。
太康四年（前2048年），有窮國國君妘羿聽說夏王姒太康前往洛水以南打獵，認為這是襲擊夏王朝最好的時機，便親率軍隊以閃電戰的方式攻破夏都斟尋，自立為王。但不久迫於諸侯的壓力，他好把帝位讓給夏王族的人。當時姒啓的六個兒子都還健在，該讓誰來出任新一任夏王呢？老二元康和老三伯康都不學無，而且頭腦愚笨，除吃喝玩樂，的什麽都不會，根本不堪為王。衹有老四仲康身體健壯，而且野心勃勃，一直就覬覦着王位。於是仲康便暗中活動，由位老臣出，推舉他為新王。有窮國君妘羿同意讓位，但他的條件是：夏王朝不但要免除有窮國的賦稅，而且每年還要有窮國提供雙倍的賦稅。姒仲康是個沒有政治遠見的庸人，為坐上帝位，便毫不猶豫地答應。這樣，有窮國君妘羿便讓出王位，率領有窮軍隊攜帶着在夏都搜刮的大量財物返受不了窮石。
姒仲康正式即位稱王，號仲康，改甲寅年（前2047）為仲康元年。
姒仲康即位以，立刻派人前往陽夏（今河南周口地區太康縣）迎請帝太康國，聲稱願意將王位還給太康。太康認為這是弟弟仲康對他的羞辱，堅决不肯國。仲康很高興，因為他內心並不希望太康來，太康不歸正好滿足他的心，於是便派軍隊護送太康的妃子和兒女往陽夏與他聚。
仲康元年（甲寅，前2047），姒仲康任命胤侯為大司馬，掌管六師。有窮國的入侵給姒仲康上很好的一課，使他認識到一個國若想保住政權，就必須得有一支強大的軍隊。因此他命胤侯主管軍隊，在國中青壯年入伍，有計地進行軍事訓練，提高作戰能力。
仲康五年（戊午，前2043）九月庚戌日（12月6日），夏朝國都生日全食，白日如同黑夜，人們十分恐慌。於是有人上奏姒仲康，說主管天文的羲氏與主管法的和氏終日沉湎於酒，玩忽職守，致使酒誤事，廢時亂日，使時間造成混亂，給人類社會帶來災難。因此必須依法懲治他們。姒仲康聞奏大怒，立刻命令胤侯領兵去逮捕他們，胤侯一對羲氏與和氏看法很好，認為他們都是對工作職責的人，怎麽會突然糊起來犯下如此重罪呢，這其間恐怕是另有隱情，但是天子之命不可違抗，好率軍前往。等見到羲氏與和氏，知道兩人並不曾喝酒誤事，他們告訴他日食是一種正常的天象，不是人類所能改變的。胤侯便帶他們去見帝仲康，讓他們解釋清楚，但是愚昧的姒仲康根本不相信科學，反而認為他們是在狡辯，仍然將他們治罪。

仲康六年（己未，前2042），姒仲康任命顓頊之已樊為諸侯，封於昆吾（今河南濮陽市），稱夏伯。昆吾氏來展成為一個強大的部族，是夏王朝的重要同盟軍。
仲康七年（庚申，前2041），經過年的展和建設，夏王朝的軍隊逐漸強大起來，姒仲康認為現在已經有能力與有窮國相抗衡，便宣佈不再有窮國納貢，且命令有窮國繼續夏王朝交納稅賦。
仲康八年（辛酉，前2040），夏王姒仲康單方撕毀和約的行為激怒有窮國國君，妘羿再次率領本國軍隊入侵夏氏領地。有窮軍如狼似虎，作戰十分驍勇。夏氏軍隊根本不堪一擊，聞風喪膽，節節敗退，有窮軍隊眼看就打到夏都斟尋。
仲康九年（壬戌，前2039），姒仲康在夏伯己樊的幫助下，以帝丘（今河南濮陽市西南）為都，開始偏居一隅的統治。
姒仲康四十一歲即帝位，在位執政虛記十九年（《路史紀》），卒於仲康十八年（辛未，前2030），終年六十歲。死葬地不詳，王號仲康，尊號仲康，謚號帝仲康。

《左傳》說，羿“恃其射也，不修民事而淫於原獸”。羿不關心農業生産和老百姓的生活，整天沉溺於打獵圍畋。來，其親信寒浞就買通羿的奴，殺羿而自立。寒浞本來是寒國的一個姦詐的小人。大禹時，寒國臣服於夏朝，被封為方伯（方伯即各諸侯之長），叫伯明。伯明歸順夏朝，將寒浞驅逐出境。寒浞於是投奔有窮國羿，且得到皇后羿的寵信。寒浞利用卑鄙手段，趁羿不理政事，疏於防備，殺之自立，霸占皇后羿的妻妾和財産。寒浞與羿的妻子純狐生兩個兒子。大的叫澆，封於過，稱過澆；小的叫豷，封於戈，稱戈豷。過澆和戈豷來成寒國的兩個名將，為寒浞立下過汗馬功勞。
