　　張軌（265年－314年），字士彥，雍州安定郡烏氏縣人，晉朝時任涼州牧，是前涼政權實質上建立者，張寔、張茂皆為其子。314年去世，晉謚曰武公。至曾孫張祚時，追謚為武王，廟號太祖。
　　
　　張軌其世孝廉，以博學著稱，深得西晉朝廷中書監張華的器重。張軌任尚書郎、太子洗馬、散騎常侍。
　　
　　晉惠帝元康元年(291年)，“八王之亂”開始，各州郡大都各自為政，張軌也想占據河西之地（今甘肅西部、新疆東部一帶），於是就要求學家全家家庭家乡鄉為官。永寧元年(301年)，晉惠帝拜張軌為涼州刺史，治姑臧（今甘肅武威市）。張軌到任，沿用當地有才幹的涼州大姓，共同治理涼州。他勸農桑，立學校，始終對西晉示忠誠，以維民心。他多次擊敗入侵的鮮卑部，保境安民，威震西土。晉懷帝永嘉五年(311年)，洛陽被漢趙大將劉曜攻剋，隨之又攻剋長安，中原和關中地區的很多百姓流入涼州，張軌在姑臧西北置武興郡；又分西平郡（今青海西寧市）界置晉興郡以收容流民，又鑄五株錢，流通境內，多有建樹。西晉末年，各州郡都不再西晉朝廷賦貢，惟有張軌貢獻不絶。在漢趙大將王彌、劉曜進攻洛陽、長安時，張軌還數次派兵勤王，被朝廷遷升為侍中、太尉、涼州牧、西平郡公。
　　
　　晉愍帝建興二年(314年)五月，張軌病死。張軌的親信部下擁張軌的長子張寔繼任涼州牧之職。
