大日本根子彦国牵

　　孝元天皇(孝元天皇Kogen-tenno)为日本第八代天皇，其在《日本书纪》中被称作大日本根子彦国牵尊，在《古事记》里则名为大倭根子日子国玖流。身为欠史八代中第七位天皇，其生平几无法考证。

　　大日本根子彦国牵尊是孝灵天皇嫡子，母亲是孝灵天皇皇后细媛命。孝灵天皇三十六年正月，立十九岁的大日本根子彦国牵尊为太子。七十六年二月孝灵天皇驾崩，隔年太子即位，是为大日本根子彦国牵天皇（即孝元天皇）。
　　
　　孝元天皇四年三月，迁都至轻地境原宫。在位第六年九月，葬先皇于片丘马阪陵。在位第七年立郁色谜命为皇后，生有两男一女，其中嫡长男大彦命即神功皇后摄政时代名臣武内弥宿之祖父。除此之外，天皇纳伊香色谜命与河内青玉系女埴安媛两妃，共生有两子。
　　
　　孝元天皇二十二年正月，依传统立次子稚日本根子彦大日日尊为太子。在位第五十七年九月驾崩，享寿一百一十五岁。
