薑無知，是齊僖公同母弟夷仲年的遺腹子，甚得僖公的寵愛。前685年齊大夫連稱、管至父殺齊襄公薑諸兒，立其堂弟
薑無知即位。齊大夫鮑叔牙與薑小白奔莒國（山東莒縣），另一大夫管仲則協薑糾奔魯國。前685年齊大臣雍廩殺國君
薑無知與太夫連稱，薑小白回到臨淄（山東淄博東）即位，為齊桓公。
