一、姓氏源流
仰（Yǎng）姓源出有二：
1、出自上古虞舜为帝时的大臣仰延之后。仰延精通音乐，当时瑟为八弦，他改造为二十五弦，为一大发明。仰延的后人，以祖上的字为姓，遂成仰姓。
2、出自嬴姓，为秦惠帝之子公子印之后。印，古为仰字的右半部。其支庶子孙以祖字为姓，加一人旁，遂成仰姓。
得姓始祖：仰延。据《吕氏春秋》上记载仰姓是舜时仰延的后代。舜是远古时候著名的氏族部落首领，他的部落崇拜牛图腾和凤图腾。舜的手下有个大臣叫作仰延，很善于音乐。传说他发明和改造了很多乐器，特别是弓弦乐器，他将8根弦改为25根弦。他的后代就以仰为姓氏，成为今天仰姓的起源。故仰氏后人奉仰延为仰姓的得姓始祖。
二、迁徙分布
（缺）仰姓在大陆和台湾都没有列入百家姓前一百位。仰氏家族是由来已久的，据《万姓统谱》上记载，早在2000年前的汉朝之时，就已经有一位叫作仰祗的杰出先人，以官拜御史而使仰氏为人所知；另《姓氏考略》上指出，从唐代末年开始，浙江的钱塘和吴兴一带，已经有了姓仰的宗族，并且成为仰姓的望族。望族居汝南郡（今河南省汝南县东）。
