　　描述：hypoestes soland. ex r. br. 枪刀药属，爵床科，约150种，分布于东半球热带地区，我国有枪刀药h. purpurea（l. ）soland. 等3种，产东南部至西南部。草本、灌木或乔木；花组成腋生的花束或短的穗状花序；总苞萼状，由4苞片合成，内有花1－3朵；萼小，5裂；花冠2唇形，上唇全缘或浅2裂，下唇3裂；雄蕊2，花药1室；子房室有胚珠2颗；蒴果下部压扁，通常有种子4颗。
