　　半個月亮倒挂在那面山頂上邊，照得院子有半邊亮。一隻狗躺在院當中，看見他便站起 　　來走過一邊去。他信腳又到了牛欄邊，槽裏還剩下很多的草。牛躺在暗處，輕輕的噴着鼻 　　子，“媽的，為什麽還不生呢！”便焦急的想起明天的會。 　　他剛要離開牛欄的時候，一個人影橫過來，輕聲的問着：“你的牛生仔了沒有？”這人 　　一手托着草筐，一手撐在牛欄的門上，擋住他出來的路。 　　“是你，侯桂英。”他嘎聲的說了。心不覺的跳得快了起來。 　　侯桂英是他間壁的青聯主任的妻子，丈夫纔十八歲，而二十三歲了的她卻總不歡喜，她 　　曾提出過離婚。她是婦聯會的委員，現已被提為參議會的候選人。 　　這是第三次還是第四次了，當他晚上起來喂牲口時，她也跟着來喂，而且總跟過來說幾 　　句話，即使白天見了，她也總是眯着她那單眼皮的長眼笑。他討厭她，恨她，有時就恨不得
