塞隆，系仓鼠科动物高原鼢鼠的藏语名，俗称“瞎老鼠”。药用其干燥骨骼，故称塞隆骨。分布在青海广大农、牧区草原、农田。有2亿只左右，对草原植被危害面积超过166万公顷。
塞隆骨，属国家一类动物新药材，1990年11月通过国家中科院鉴定；1991年获中科院科技进步一等奖，199年获国家科技进步三等奖，同年获国家级新产品证书；1993年获青海省重奖。塞隆骨性微温，味辛、咸入肝坚经，具有散寒止痛、舒筋活络，强筋健骨，增强肌体抵抗力的作用。治疗风湿寒痹引起的各种症候群，如风湿性关节炎、类风湿性关节炎，关节风湿症、骨性关节炎等症，是取代虎骨的一种新药
