品种简介：我国疆域辽阔，养驴历史悠久。驴可分大、中、小三型，大型驴有关中驴、泌阳驴，这两种驴体高130厘米以上；中型驴有辽宁驴，这种驴高在110-130厘米之间；小型俗称毛驴，以华北、甘肃、新疆等地居多，这些地区的驴体高在85-110厘米之间。
驴的形象似马，多为灰褐色，不威武雄壮，它的头大耳长，胸部稍窄，四肢瘦弱，躯干较短，因而体高和身长大体相等，呈正方型。颈项皮薄，蹄小坚实，体质健壮，抵抗能力很强。驴很结实，耐粗放，不易生病，并有性情温驯，刻苦耐劳、听从使役等优点。

农夫请来左邻右舍，人手铁铲一把，开始填井埋驴，以免除驴之痛苦煎熬。
驴得知此情，始则更感伤悲，哭声不断，令人同情而无奈。但出人意料的是，一会儿这头驴子就安静下来了，农夫好奇地探头往井底一看，出现在眼前的景象令他大吃一惊！当铲进井里的泥土落在驴子的背部时，驴子的反应令人称奇：它将泥土抖落在一旁，然后站在铲进的泥土堆上面！就这样，驴子将大家铲倒在它身上的泥土不停抖落井底，然后站上去！站上去！很快地，这只驴子便升到井口，然后在众人惊奇的表情中得意地跑开了！
