海南醫學院的前身是海南醫學專科學校，由創辦於1947年的私立海強醫事技術學校和創辦於1948年的私立海南大學醫學院合併而成。1973年設立直屬附屬醫院。1977年起開辦臨床醫療專業本科。1983年並入海南大學，改稱海南大學醫學部。1993年經國傢教委批準成立海南醫學院，隸屬海南省人民政府主管。1994年獲準授予學士學位。1996年被國傢教委確定為本科教學工作合格學校。2000年校本部從海口市竜華路舊校區遷至學院路新校區。2003年被國傢教育部確定為聯合培養碩士學位研究生單位。2004年起與北京大學聯合招收碩士研究生。現為海南省唯一的高等醫學院校。
學院占地面積557060.99M2，分城西、竜華兩個校區。現有教職工（含附院）1300多人，專任教師320人，其中研究生學位占46.3%。分別聘請了近50名國內外著名的專傢學者為學院名譽教授、客座教授、特別顧問。下設高等職業教育學院、臨床學院、預防醫學係、護理學係、藥學係、檢驗醫學係、中醫學係、口腔醫學係、基礎醫學部、人文社會科學部、外語部、信息技術部、體育部等院係部；有6個基礎實驗室、5個專業實驗室。設立附屬醫院3傢（直屬1傢、非直屬2傢），病床總數2320張；臨床教學（實習）醫院20傢，開放病床數6433張。另有教學基地9個。
學院堅持“立足本科教育，積極發展研究生和留學生教育，普通教育與繼續教育並重”的辦學方針，以多種模式拓展辦學規模。目前開設臨床醫學、醫學檢驗、預防醫學、藥學、護理學、中醫學、口腔醫學、醫學影像學、中西醫臨床醫學、康復治療學等10個本科專業，課程總門數達207門。
校園已構成了主幹千兆帶寬、百兆到終端的校園網絡架構體係，並以100Mbase的帶寬連接中國教育與科研計算機網海南省節點，實現了Internet的高速連接。建有學院門戶網站、電子郵件服務係統、文件傳輸服務係統、電子社區，實現了校園Intranet功能。新校區已具備無綫上網功能。圖書館是海南省唯一的部、省兩級醫藥衛生科技項目查新咨詢單位，有館藏文獻511584册，與CADLIS等國內數字圖書館等建立了廣泛的文獻傳遞服務關係。主編出版《海南醫學院學報》、《海南醫學院院報》等刊物。
學院基本上面嚮全國招生。現有在校生7200餘人，“十一五”末將達到12000人。建校以來，為國傢和社會培養了近20000名合格的醫學人才。在造就海南基層衛生骨幹隊伍、利用現代技術促進醫學教學改革等方面有特色。
學院堅持“改重基礎研究為主為重應用研究為主，改抓小課題為主為抓大課題為主，改分散單一研究為主為集體攻關為主”的科研工作方針，充分發揮自身的人才優勢和海南省的資源優勢，將分子生物學、轉基因研究、植物化學、幹細胞研究、南藥與海洋藥物開發作為科研的主攻方向。近幾年，科研工作發展迅速，先後成功申報了國傢863課題2項實現海南省“零”的突破；“精子載體法轉基因雜交水牛的研究”成果部分達到國際先進水平，先後發現並成功剋隆出2個人類新基因，經審核已獲準加入國際基因庫（編號分別為GenbankAF157027和GenbankAF160979）；獲省級科技奬14項，在研國務院各部委課題20項、國傢自然科學基金課題14項。現有省級重點學科2個（婦産科學、天然藥物化學）；省級重點實驗室2個（海南省熱帶藥用植物研究開發重點實驗室、海南省熱帶病原學研究重點實驗室）；省級精品課程4門；省級重點課程3門。已形成和正在培育分子生物學、生殖醫學、熱帶醫學等一批特色學科。
海南醫學院附屬醫院是學院直屬的附屬醫院，建於1973年，是一所集醫療、教學、科研、預防、保健、社區衛生服務於一體的綜合性三級甲等醫院。醫院編製床位數513張，臨床醫技科室齊全，擁有蠃旋CT儀等一批現代化醫療儀器設備。醫院在省內率先開展人類體外受精與胚胎移植技術（俗稱試管嬰兒），現已躋身國內一流水平，成為海南省唯一被國傢衛生部正式批準開展常規體外受精—胚胎移植技術和卵細胞漿內單精子註射技術的醫療機構。
學院積極推進體製創新，在創新中加快發展。學院第二次黨代會確立了“三步走”的發展戰略目標，即從2004年起，力爭用十年左右時間，建成國內獨樹一幟的熱帶醫學醫療教育中心，進而把學院建設成為具有鮮明海南特色的現代水準的醫藥大學。
Hainan Medical College was founded on the basis of Haiqiang Medical Vocational School built in 1947 and the Medical School of the Private-owed Hainan University built in 1948. In 1973 the affiliated hospital was built. Since 1977 Hainan Medical has been enrolling undergraduates for a 5-year program in the specialty of medicine. It was officially approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 1993 to be an independent school of higher education subjected to Hainan Educational Committee and in 1996 it was evaluated as qualified college for its undergraduate teaching practice. In 2000, Hainan Medical College set up its new campus on Xue Yuan Avenue in Haikou. In 2003, it was approved? the qualification by the National Commission of Education to co-cultivate postgraduates. And in 2004, it started to co-enroll postgraduates with Beijing University. Now the HMC is the only medical school of higher education.
Hainan Medical College has 2 campuses of Cheng Xi and Long Hua with a total land area of 557,060.99 square meters. It now has 1300 faculty and staff members (the affiliated hospital members inclusive), comprising 320 full-time teachers among whom there are 46.3% of postgraduates. There have been nearly 50 retained specialists domestically or aboard as honorable professors, visiting professors and expert counselors. There are various institutions, faculties and departments for teaching, researching and administrative purposes in HMC, such as the Institute of Higher Vocational? Education, the Clinical Institute, the Department of Preventive Medicine, the Department of Higher Nursing, the Pharmacy Department, the Department of Medical Testing, the Department of? Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Stomatology Department, the Faculty of Pre-clinical Studies, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Physical Education.
Our college always adheres to such a basic school-running policy: To base ourselves upon the undergraduate education, to actively develop the education for postgraduates and overseas students, and to coordinate common education and continuing education. Today we have all-together 10 undergraduate specialties of clinical medicine, medical testing, preventive medicine, pharmacy, higher nursing, traditional Chinese medicine, medical image, clinical medicine of Chinese and Western medicines and recuperative therapy, and totally 207 courses.
A campus network of a 1000MB Broad Band and 100MB terminals has been built, which is connected to the Hainan node of China Education and Research Computer Net with a 100MB Broad Band. This campus network system has contained all the relevant intranet functions, including portal website, E-mail service system, file-transmitted service system and electronic community service system. On the new campus of Hainan Medical College, the wireless internet system has been equipped. Our library is the only novelty-search section of provincial level and above for the research items in medicine and? sanitation. The library has a collection totaling 511,584 volumes and it has set up a regular file-transmitted service relationship with the digital library of CADLIS. Our college also publishes 2 periodicals of Hainan Medical College Transaction? and the Newspaper of Hainan Medical College.
Our college recruits students nationwide. There are more than 7200 students in our college now. At the end of “The Eleventh 5-Year Plan”, this number will reach 12000. Since the establishment, our college has provided nearly 20,000 graduates for public health purposes.
Our college always sticks to such a research guideline “Shifting the focus from basic researches to applied ones, from minor research projects to large-scale ones, from simplex researches to collective ones”, makes full use of our own teaching and research staff and the material advantage, and lays our research focus on molecular chemistry, gene-transition research, bio-chemistry, stem cell research, marine medication.
In the recent years, our college has made great progresses in scientific research, declaring 2 research projects of national high-tech project 863, cloning 2 new human genes which has become members of international gene-base(numbered GenbankAF157027 and GenbankAF160979), bearing off 14 province-leveled awards, going along with 20 ministry-leveled research projects and 14 projects of National Natural Science Fund. Now we are also going ahead with? 2 subjects (gynecology and obstetrics) of provincial level. We have set up 2 key laboratories (the Tropical Medicinal Plant Research and Exploitation Laboratory of Hainan Province, and the Pathogenic Research Laboratory of Hainan Province ). We also have 4 key courses and 3 characteristic courses, which are all of provincial level. And some characteristic courses like molecular biology, procreant medicine, tropical medicine are under cultivation.
The Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College was built in 1973. This is a comprehensive class-3, grade-A hospital, which covers diagnosis and treatment, teaching and? research, disease prevention, health care and community health service. In this hospital, there are 513 beds, integrated medical sections and modernized equipments for medical purposes as well. This hospital is also only one in Hainan which is authorized by the Ministry of Health to research on In Vitro Fertilization and embryo-transfer.
The Hainan Medical College is actively innovating its own system, and in turn developing with this innovation. On the 2nd Congress of the Communist Party in Hainan Medical College, the strategic development goal of “3-Step Strategy” was put forward. With this goal, we will try to develop our college into a characteristic education center for tropical medicine and medical treatment in 10 years, and build our college into a modernized college of medicine and pharmacy with clear Hainan trait. |
