okapi wildlife reserve1996(n iv) 　　俄卡皮野生動物保護區 　　the okapi wildlife reserve occupies about one-fifth of the ituri forest in the north-east of zaire. the zaire river basin, of which the reserve and forest are a part, is one of the largest drainage systems in africa. the reserve contains threatened species of primates and birds and about 5,000 of the estimated 30,000 okapi surviving in the wild. it also has some dramatic scenery, including waterfalls on the ituri and epulu rivers. the reserve is inhabited by traditional nomadic pygmy mbuti and efe hunters. 　　俄卡皮野生動物保護區占據了位於剛果共和國東北部的伊圖裏森林五分之一的面積。保護區及其森林屬紮伊爾河流域的一部分，這個流域是非洲最大的排水區域之一。保護區內生存着許多瀕危的靈長目類和鳥類動物。估測的全球幸存的三萬頭野生俄卡皮鹿中的五千頭棲息在這個保護區。區內也有其他壯麗景觀，包括伊圖裏河和埃普盧河上的瀑布。而它別具特色的人文價值，則在於這裏居住着傳統的矮人遊牧民族穆布提族和埃費族的獵手們。
