　　高射机枪是主要用于对空中目标设计的大口径机枪,由枪身,枪架,瞄准装置组成.主要用于歼灭斜距离在2000米以内的敌人低空目标;还可以用于摧毁,压制地(水)面的敌火力点,轻型装甲目标,舰船,封锁交通要道等.按运动方式分为牵引式,携行式和运载式(安装在坦克,装甲车,步兵战车,舰船上)三种.
　　主要特点是:体积小,重量轻,机动灵活,投入战斗速度快,射速快,火力猛,对低空目标射击效果好,是防空武器系列中不可取代重要装备.
　　常见的有:14.5毫米二联或四联高射机枪和12.7毫米高射机枪.一般编在步兵营或高炮营内,由5~10人操作使用.
