　　宜宾市郊之北，有崔科山（也名天柱山）横亘之际。山下，一巨石中开，形成天然峡谷，谷深20余米，谷底有清泉缓缓流出，绕谷底没入石中，为一天然奇观。北宋元符元年，大诗人、大书法家黄庭坚居戎州时，仿王羲之《兰亭集序》中“流觞曲水”意境，于此凿石饮水为池，曰“流杯池”。
　　自宋以来，后人为纪念黄庭坚，相继在流杯池周围修建了“涪翁亭”、“涪翁楼”、“山谷祠”、“吊黄楼”等建筑。涪翁楼是昔曰黄庭坚读书会友、挥毫泼墨之地，在此留下了《苦笋赋》、《荔枝绿颂》等华章传于后世。后人以黄庭坚别号“涪翁”命名为.“涪翁楼”楼前匾额“涪翁搂”三字为全国人大原副委员长周建人所书。登楼凭栏，西可观荷塘秀色，东可揽流杯池胜景。园林小景“山谷小憩”座落于流杯池景区的睡莲池旁，黄庭坚身着便装，手拿书卷，在池旁静坐沉思。两只白鹤立于水中相伴，小景也称“双鹤伴涪翁”优雅清新，寓味深长。形象地表现了黄庭坚在谪居戎州时，平和豁达的心态。解放后，宜宾市人民政府在流杯池东北角建立了“烈士陵园”，并建了“流杯池”公园。流杯池及其石刻已经四川省人民政府批准为重点文物保护单位。
　　园内有一直径约四米多的明代巨石砚，人称“笔点丹池”，丞相祠为纪念蜀汉丞相诸葛亮南征而建，始建于明朝正德年间，距今近五百年历史。关帝庙为该祠后殿，是省内目前一座较完整祭祀关羽的祠庙，《丞相祠及石砚》列为市级文物保护单位。另公园内还有涪翁亭、吊黄楼、点将台、观音阁、荔红亭、景园等古迹和景点。
