 A perfect Friday morning
A perfect Friday morning
This is a perfect Friday morning,
Under the sunny blue sky, cool autumn breeze
Comes in through trees outside the window
I sit on the balcony, reading poetry
And enjoying life all to myself
But a man’s moaning keeps
Coming from nowhere
Which endlessly tortures my ear and heart
It’s a low, painful, helpless howling
Soaked with dark smell of death
In this community live many migrants
From the downtown
They don’t need go to work
But play chess or cards on the roadside
Where the sun is blocked out
Or tease their dogs and pet birds on the lawn
I thought this was but a Home
But now I come to understand
Even such a good morning is concealing
The darkness I’ve never noticed
