DAY OF THE WEALTH GOD
Fireworks are the pride of ancestors.
By the turn of winter and spring,
They sound exciting and pleasing.
But who abuses the power in late October
at the tail of the Olympic Sailing?
A shower of blast assails my dream.
A cloud of pigeons flashes by my window
Coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo…
as if a message of terror to come
as if an unprepared war to follow.
The autumn orchards need power.
The corn fields want fertilizer.
How the citizens waste energies in pleasure?
Of a long tradition with the royal custom
Today is the day of the Wealth God.
An evil custom,
A devil system,
Fireworks ignite fireworks.
In such a wet and hot season,
Nothing they brings but noises
to set each of my nerves on edge;
to drive away the harmony and peace,
Nobody rejects money and fortune.
Seldom dislikes ease and comfort.
Among the agents who pains and who gains?
Gain the authorities and the landlords.
Pain the stocks that failed to get listed.
Upon going bankrupt,
Before building-jumping,
Just go to the fortune-teller
who knows who is to blame---
seven tenth of natural adversities
and three tenth of man-made disasters!
What a day of the Wealth God?
An evil custom,
A devil system,
A gloomy expression and an evil explosion
The idle and the careful alike,
For drink they pick up a duck neck.
