The 5th weekend in October, 2010
I picked you
up from the airport
on our way back you said
got a present for me
a water filtration system
that can erase memories
and you got all A's
in Chinese so far
After taking a shower
you, installed the gadget
suitcase left half open—
erase memory How does it
I asked
You know
when water flows through
all the pipes into our house
it may carry bad memories
from the environment or neighbors
if they happen to be quarreling
Good water cleanses body cells
—asked me to drive you to meet your high school friends
In my car you said you were just learning the Chinese 盼著
盼 is long for
what is 著
you asked
I said 著 is like-er-adding ING to a verb
Have you got something for your friends
No, best things are for family only
On my way back
The windshield wasn't wet
Yet my eyes could not ....
Ah—my son has grown
up, like my tears have!

父子情深啊。
It's very tender, touching. The son only reported his Chinese grade and asked questions about Chinese!
I'm jumping on the punctuation again. The last two lines, the conversation, are in the brackets. Does that mean the father is recalling the dialogue, which happened before the son was dropped off at his friend's house, on his way back?

Thanks for your comment.
They are words not said and words not heard;
"(words)" may not be important in the text,
but appear as a habit or voices inside.
This is almost like saying, consciously not to treat him
as a kid as before every time dropping him off at friends,
yet subconsciously still say it, hear it in my heart,
only to feel that my son has grown up.
This could be my use of poetics in parentheses.
