Drive
(Man sings :) When smoke spiraled up from her cigarette and made her cry,
When untamed mountain wind with bitter dews her hair dyed.
When bubbles of darkness in her veins began to rise,
When roofs left behind shone like glaciers in the moonlight.
(Chorus :) Having nothing more than a vagabond but a shabby cross-country car,
This rebel of destiny bid farewell to her torn-down life.
She now realized there’s no shelter from downpours or lies,
Goodbye ruins of memory yes I’m unwavering on this desperate drive.
(Man sings:)Girl, have sorrows and pains made you insane,
Why have I seen wild flames flooding up your eyes?
Clenching the steering wheel, pressing to the floor,
In front of you is desolateness trenching for miles and miles.
(Rap :)It was April, when magnolia flowers, peach and cherry blossoms appeared
Around little ponds, in little towns,
Where young girls in garish dresses were chasing dragonflies.
They didn't know happiness is shallow, they didn't care the ponds would one day dry,
They only enjoyed what they call ironically earthly delights.
They say: who bothers! Both saints and rogues are born to die.
(Man sings)Along the way she thought it over why,
Why we repeatedly surrender, indulge in numbness, when we can just say no and fight.
(Chorus :) All we need is maybe a little sensitivity, a little criticism,
A drop of red blood and a drop of bile.
But all we did is crouching in the sofa, watching soap operas, chewing junk foods,
Persuading ourselves that everything is going on right.
(Rap :) Ok. Call me a bigot, or whatever you like,
But aren't you really one of those slaves, to somebody, something, some principles or some elapsed time?
(Man sings :) There might be some unique terminal for her,
Beyond the network of longitudes and latitudes.
Exposed to wax and wane,
Maybe she had got a panorama of life on her mind. |
