once a garden
now the home of wild weeds
butterflies left

Arid river bank
Scorching sand
Ducks lazy in water

cherry blossoms
transience of life

a boat tossed up and down
sky, earth, a lone gull

What odds the jackpot?
Who cares? ‘Neath a pipal tree,
mind moves with clouds

You receiving me?
Tried in vain. Connection lost.
Stare at a blank screen.

Locked in nutty slack
angry volcano broke free
and dyed the whole sky

an egg first or a chicken?
Kongzi can’t answer

Life, death, friend and enemy-
He scratches his head
