菩提
把煙綑起來
露串起來
霧披好
這麼寧靜的早晨
連房子都還在睡覺
Bodhi
smokes tie up themselves
dews string themselves
covered by the me-fog
such a quiet morning
even the house still sleeping _________________ (在不斷的審醜裡終將建立起新的審美) |

The title 菩提 vs Bodhi made me linger for a while, thought aren't they the same thing? As I read on, I realized that it's one poem in two versions - 菩提 in Chinese, Bodhi in English.
"even the house still sleeping", reminds me of Wordsworth's Upon Westminster Bridge, the line reads: Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;/And all that mighty heart is lying still!
如此静谧的清晨, 演练一套易筋经是最惬意不过了。
smokes 是什么?我希望不是香烟、雪茄、烟囱,而是云、雾霭之类的。 You know what I mean.
I like what you did with smokes, dews and fog. Such a nice morning scene. _________________ the trouble with poetry is that it encourages the writing of more poetry -- Billy Collins |

As to the West understanding of ‘bodhi', one may refer to
http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Bodhi
this is actually one zen poem with two languages,
the Chinese part (is to) 'converse' with the English part,
the Chinese section has no subject but implies existence of it from its syntax,
the English part has objects(both denotation such as smokes and dews
and connotation of the 'object' word) as subjects (also from passive mode in Chinese part),
me-fog is an invented word that extrapolates self onto a dispersed air.
The contrast of syntax and grammar, the missing of exact translation, the shift of 'self-ness' from one version to the other, and then finally the reader gets involved; all together (they are) supposed to expand the poetic space. _________________ (在不斷的審醜裡終將建立起新的審美) |
