也生下了三个儿子
意大利，瑞士，法兰西
唯一的财产
是一只粘土烧铸的瓦罐
一罐子不知由来的原雪
寓言：只要瓦罐轮流转递
奶水就会源源不断流出
孕育出富足的子嗣
辉煌的文化，艺术和诗歌
故事的结局，你们也知道
白朗峰就像一头不知疲倦的奶牛
每天，我都要消费
半公升牛奶
一杯酸奶
两片奶酪
四腿熏肉
夜里
我反芻，我咀嚼着
她丰满的水草，她起伏的肋骨
一千层的千枚岩
是她的牛百叶
渐渐，我的体内
流淌着她的血
她的名
我几乎要复制出另一个瓦罐
在法国的边界线上，支起帐篷
我梦到自己躺在奶水之上
被一个巨大的乳房挤压着
成为千层的奶酪
一只脚刚伸过意大利边境
就被峰顶雪亮的半月牙
一刀切过
我的瓦罐缺了一只脚
我是一块被瓜分的奶酪
虽然，我觉得自己
尚能催生
另一个文艺复兴
Mont Blanc is a Piece of Cheese

From the One came the Three,
And the Three gave birth to three sons:
Italy, Switzerland, France.
Their only inheritance
Is a clay-fired crock,
Filled with primordial snow of unknown origin.
A fable: as long as the crock is passed in turn,
The milk will flow without end,
Nurturing prosperous descendants,
Splendid cultures, arts, and songs.
The end of the story, as you know:
Mont Blanc is like an untiring cow.
Every day, I consume
Half a liter of milk,
A cup of yogurt,
Two slices of cheese,
And four shanks of smoked meat.
At night,
I ruminate, I chew upon
Her lush water-grass, her undulating ribs.
A thousand layers of phyllite
Are the tripe of her stomach.
Gradually, within my body,
Flows her blood,
And her name.
I am on the verge of replicating another crock.
On the French border, I pitch my tent.
I dream of lying atop the milk,
Pressed by a gargantuan breast,
Becoming a thousand-layered cheese.
Just as one foot crosses the Italian frontier,
The snow-bright crescent of the peak
Slices through in a single stroke.
My crock is missing a foot;
I am a piece of cheese, partitioned.
And yet, I feel
I am still capable of birthing
Another Renaissance.

Etymology of Mont Blanc

According to etymological and Webster’s dictionaries,
Western words related to mountains and raised terrain—
Like the English mountain, mount, hill,
The French mont, montagne,
The Italian montagna, cime—
All share a common Latin root: mons.
It is the bastard child of the Latin mons pubis.
Referring to the mound of Venus,
The fatty prominence
Above the pubic bone of mammals.
This definition shook me to the core,
Plunging me into a rare epiphany.
Yin and Yang in balance, three peaks forming a crest—
This ancient Chinese pictograph for "Mountain" (山)
Was startled by a sudden Moo,
Tumbled head over heels, feet to the sky,
And "山" transformed into "m."
Startling a white butterfly,
And a black butterfly,
Circling around me,
Rotating slowly.
I am that very Taiji diagram,
The "ox-ring" at its dead center.
One begets two,
Two beget three,
The three partition the world.
The Mont Blanc, jutting out in singular splendor,
Is the mons pubis of the Alps,
The life-root of Europe.
Who cares if that butterfly is me or not.

我放下一座山，又背起一座山，Zigzag
天上惊雷，地上铃铛，Zigzag
山坡有牛群，山村有教堂，Zigzag
山顶的十字架牵引着灵魂，Zigzag
村头巷尾有耶稣的棱形神龛，Zigzag
上白下红的路标，Zigzag
在瑞士，举着小白旗的白蝴蝶最讲究平衡，Zigzag
左脚跟着右脚，箭头永远指向前方，Zigzag
后脚瑞士，前脚法郎，Zigzag
一欧元如厕，六十欧元大餐，Zigzag
左耳土拨鼠尖叫，右耳阿尔卑斯长号，Zigzag

Grabbing a fistful of snow when thirsty, eating dry rations when hungry, Zigzag
Sun above the head, the Great Mountain behind the back, Zigzag
Setting down one mountain, only to shoulder another, Zigzag
Thunder in the heavens, cowbells on the ground, Zigzag
Cattle on the slopes, churches in the hamlets, Zigzag
The summit cross tugging at the soul, Zigzag
