萨利什海域

万千气象

其中最神奇的

是卢米族关于库尔山

与两位妻子的传说

科莫·库尔山曾是一位英俊的年轻巨人

娶了两位美丽的妻子：

大老婆杜瓦克，美貌而善妒

小老婆瓦萨姆，年轻且活泼

嫉恨如蛇——

杜瓦克愤而南奔

化作了孤独的雷尼尔山

心生悔意的库尔山

则化作高耸入云的贝克山

日夜向南方眺望

而瓦萨姆

为了与库尔山看齐，踮起脚尖

却因挡住了巨人的视线

被仰天推倒，碎裂成

大小不一的海峡诸岛

其中的一枚碎屑

恰好落在熊海滩的潮汐里

化作那颗长着蘑菇脑袋的岩柱——

Hoodoo Head

恋恋不舍

向库尔山仰望

自此

贝克山家族的血脉

散落于萨利什海

只有路过的山风与海浪

仍在摩挲着，残存的只言片语

Across the Salish Sea,

A myriad of wonders unfold.

Yet the most mystical of all

Is the Lummi legend of Koma Kulshan

And his two wives.

Koma Kulshan was once a handsome young giant

Who wedded two beautiful wives:

Duhwhwylik, the elder, lovely yet green with jealousy,

And Wha-sam, the younger, youthful and full of life.

Jealousy, coiling like a serpent—

Duhwhwylik fled in fury to the south,

Transforming into the solitary Mount Rainier.

Koma Kulshan, filled with sudden remorse,

Turned into Mount Baker, piercing the clouds,

Gazing southward day and night.

As for Wha-sam,

To stand eye-to-eye with Kulshan, she stood on tiptoe,

But blocking the giant's view,

She was struck down, falling backward, shattering into

The varied islands of the archipelago.

A single splinter of her

Happened to fall into the tides of Bear Beach,

Becoming that rock pillar with a mushroom cap—

The Hoodoo Head.

Longing, lingering,

It looks up toward Mount Baker.

Since then,

The bloodline of the Baker clan

Has drifted across the Salish Sea.

Only the passing mountain winds and ocean waves

Are still brushing past

The fading whispers of the tale.

镶嵌在照片湖（Picture Lake)的镜框里

一种致命的诱惑和吞噬的力量

自Lake Ann Trail步道深处发射出来

于是，我们逆着光明

走进雾气虚构的仙境里

水分子是真实的

形成灵气的光环

仙气拂面

瞬息惊鸿的感觉是真实的

冰川融化流出的雪白色乳汁是真实的

双手薅不尽的蓝莓

让我回想起儿时

母乳甘甜的味蕊是真实的

变质岩层充满褶皱的脸庞

乳房状的花岗岩蘑菇云

留下疯狂的双掌

淘气的血手印和抓痕

让我再一次回到母亲

温暖的襁褓
