$410 fine

On that fine day heading for campus site
For my son’s attending summer sessions
A loving parent and caring such I
Drove early morning as if a mission

Thanks for the fine extension granted
Settled him into a sublet apartment
There I stayed and coached him; limited
Was short cash, fine was a stretching torment

Returned home now to read thy citation
#90441JU as received
Could Honorable Judge ease my petition
Judging I never speeded in 10 years

I pay taxes and support two nice sons
Could(Would) You grant a reduction on this one

ps. I was recorded speeding(91 MPH) on I-5 with a fine amount $410 (isn't that too much),
now write an explanation letter (with a little poem improvised--real life poetry)
and send to judge for a reduction, never done this, let's see what happens;
also keep the citation number as a memory here.
Wink

$410 fine , that's...that's... a bit too much! But 91 MPH!? Shocked And you say you're a loving and caring parent? Not sure if you can get around the judge for a reduction at this speed unless you have sound argument besides " I pay taxes and support two nice sons". Anyway good luck!

hmm, you are right, and you sounded just like a judge. Wink
but I already mailed it yesterday. FYI, people drive over 90 mph easily
on I-5, but it is not a good excuse anyway, I was trying to pass
6-8 big container trucks in a flock, don't like driving side-by-side with them.
i guess they can find out I have not gotten any tickets for over 12 years or so and
never a record in my driving history, hope that works a bit.

in case u r interested, i called the court office today (also my fine due date),
told them i wrote a letter to judges attention, the lady clerk put me on hold
to find my citation file, then told me the fine was reduced to $250 by the judge
and due date deferred. not a bad news;

either the gesture of writing a letter works
or the poem is not that bad after all

hahaha, lucky you! I think the gesture of writing a plea worked. I don't think you sent the poem, did you?

I once ran through a stop sign ( I know I know this is terrible). But of course I didn't do it deliberately, I didn't realize it till I was in the mid of the crossroad, I didn't do this I didn't do that...

A few days later I went to talk to the mediator at the county office and was told they could either reduce the fine or I have to pay the full amount without a record as long as there will not be any traffic violation in one year but I can't get both (reduced and no record). I took the second choice.

Anyway, do what you have to do, it doesn't hurt.

I did send the poem to the judge office, exactly as above;
in the letter, before the poem starts, I, of course, first described
the date, citation number, and reason I ran a bit faster that morning.
I think the main reason could be that I had never gotten a ticket for
over 10,12 years. The poem is just to send some bitter humor to the judge.

This is more of the poetry of real life, with real citation number in it.
Also to warn drivers about the high fine in CA now in terms of speeding.
I joke with my son, this poem's worth? $160, now we have a pricing method
for poor poetry in this world. Laughing Wink
