神仙范统(廖启智)原为灶君座下粥、粉、面、饭四大弟子之一，因偷吃极品冬瓜盅触怒皇母娘娘，被罚囚于大冬瓜内五百年静思己过。凡间田大贵(陈锦鸿)、锺碧玉(苏玉华)夫妇无意解开金锁，救出范统，岂料大贵之兄田大富(廖启智分饰)失足堕崖，与路过之范统撞在一起，范统竟附到大富身上，法力全失。
　　范统无奈暂住在大贵家中，却与一家人建立真挚的感情，唯碧玉始对其身份起疑，暗中使计欲揭穿其真面目，弄致笑话连篇。范统一心重返天庭，但法力尽失，乌龙百出，幸得六只因沾染其仙气得到法力之小神仙连番解救，因而看尽凡间人情冷暖。其后当日嫌弃大富家贫出走之妻子凌凤(刘玉翠)忽然回归，不但为田家带来麻烦，更连累大贵无辜一命呜呼，范统为救大贵，不惜再犯天条，强闯地府……
