Spring Camp, Deep Creek

Setting up the tent was a lesson in disaster
watching the pegs roll down the hill, lost

down the mouth of the green ravine, impossible
to retrieve them, watching as they rolled their way to the sea.

How the wind bit into our backs as we wrestled the shining cloth
fighting to build it to some kind of shape, trying to form a dome

entangling ourselves in a ropey web
bungees and fabric and string.

Flap-flapping, the thin skin sang through the night
crying like pterodactyls might sound, soaring their way high above.

Imagining leathery wings while we slept, the two of us
cocooned. Building the silence of our love

safe, against the storm.

春令營，深河

架設帳篷是個教訓，很糟糕
眼睜睜地看著木栓滾下山，消失

於下面綠色峽谷口，不可能
找回來的了，只能望著它們一路滾向大海。

刺背的風吹呀，我們跟閃亮的蓬布較勁
奮力使之成形，試著弄成個圓頂

我們纏進了一張繩網
彈力索和織物和帶子。

擺動拍打，那薄薄的外層在夜裏歌唱
就像翼龍的吟聲般，從上空呼嘯而過。

沉睡中想著那皮質的翅膀，我們兩個
被包在繭裏。愛的靜謐擴展著

平安，對著風暴。
