小时候爷爷家里没有井
我经常会提着两只铅桶
去打水。顺着小路往南
去邻居家的一口凉水井
会路过一头母牛，拴在
一堵倾颓的矮墙边
那里过去是一座豪宅
后来被他们安排烧毁
回来的时候灌满的桶很沉
所以我总是累得龇牙咧嘴
此刻我从自我之外窥见自己
不断努力想感觉曾经的我
但总归于徒劳。铅桶下井
撞到石壁的声响仍清晰在耳
而我自己的声音却已消弭

There was no water at my grandfather's
when I was a kid and would go for it
with two zinc buckets. Down the path,
past the cow by the foundation where
the fine people's house was before
they arranged to have it burned down.
To the neighbor's cool well. Would
come back with pails too heavy,
so my mouth pulled out of shape.
I see myself, but from the outside.
I keep trying to feel who I was,
and cannot. Hear clearly the sound
the bucket made hitting the sides
of the stone well going down,
but never the sound of me.


杰克•吉尔伯特（Jack Gilbert），美国当代诗人。1925年出生于宾夕法尼亚州匹兹堡，高中毕业后曾做过推销员、灭虫工人和钢铁工人。后入匹兹堡大学，并开始诗歌创作。1962年出版第一本诗集《危险观察》（Views of Jeopardy, 1962）。后陆续出版诗集三部：《独石》（Monolithos, 1982）、《大火》（The Great Fires, 1994）、《拒绝天堂》（Refusing Heaven, 2005）。其诗以朴素的抒情和明晰的语言为主要特色。

喜欢Jack Gilbert的诗歌。可能也就是喜欢在简介中提到的"朴素的抒情和明晰的语言"吧。

"合谋" 感觉好似有些 negative。除此之外，对译文没意见。
