醉里且贪欢笑，要愁那得功夫。近来始觉古人书，信着全无是处。昨夜松边醉倒，问松我醉如何？只疑松动要来扶，以手推松曰去！

-To the tune of the West River Moon

In my drunkenness I seek laugh and joy,
there is no time for worry and sadness.
Only recently have I realized the ancient books
lead you to nowhere if for total belief.

Last night laying drunk by the pine tree,
I asked it: “How do you think I am drunk?”
I assumed the tree bent to help me up,
I pushed it and said : “Go away!”

Drunk, I seek pleasure for the moment,
too busy for worry and sorrow.
Only now have I realized the books
by ancient masters serve no use.

Last night, drunk by a pine tree,
I asked the tree “ How drunk am I?”
It seemed it bent to help me up,
I pushed it and said: “ Go Away!”
