Shen Wei (1965—) is a poet and prose writer born in Huzhou, Zhejiang, and graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Zhejiang Normal University. Shen Wei lived and worked in Xinjiang for 30 years from 1988 to 2018, served as the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Xinjiang Writers Association, and was the Editor-in-Chief of the literary magazine Western. Shen Wei currently lives in Hangzhou. He is a professor at the Communication University of Zhejiang and a member of the Poetry Committee of the China Writers Association.
Shen Wei’s works include 12 collections of poems: Instant Staying, Selected Poems of Shen Wei, Xinjiang Poems, Counting the Sands, Stranger, Poems of Jiangnan, Poetics, etc., as well as 10 collections of essays: Xinjiang Dictionary, Erato of Noon, Books and Wilderness, The Silk Road: Walking Plants, etc. He has also authored and edited several academic works and books.
Literary awards Shen Wei acquired include the Lu Xun Literature Prize, the Poet of the Year in Chinese Literature and Media Awards, the October Literature Prize, the Qu Yuan Poetry Prize, the Liu Lian Poetry Prize, etc. His works have been translated into over 10 languages
