Zhang Wei, a contemporary novelist and poet, is the vice-president of China Writers Association, who had his first poem published in 1975 and Complete Works of Zhang Wei (50 volumes) issued in 2020. Some of his writings have been translated into the languages of English, Japanese, French, Korean, German, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Arabian, Turkish, Romanian, Italian, and Vietnamese.
His works include novels such as An Ancient Boat, Fable of September, Song of a Hedgehog, The Book from a Foreign Province, You Are on the Plateau, The Secret Pharmacist, and The Secret History of Aiyue Castle; poems such as The Way of Conversion, A Night Spent in Bay Garden, Home in Wangsongpu, Figaro Café, and I and the Silent Oak; and poetic monographs such as Meditation on Li Bai and Du Fu, The Heritage of Tao Yuanming, Notes on The Songs of the South, and Reading The Book of Songs.
He is the winner of Mao Dun Literary Prize, China Publishing Government Award, Chinese Excellent Publications Award, China Writers Publishing Group Special Award, Southern Media Outstanding Writers Award, and Jing Dong Literature Prize.
