打狗詩餘


在中山大學後山就已看到一隻黑狗
打狗聽說是日語的發音
山不在高, 老外都懂
我們爬上階梯
紅磚蚵白的建築
西子灣變得很清楚
歷史變得很清楚
我們相視打個勾勾
前面有結婚的人在拍照
著唐裝與旗袍

高雄原名有二:一曰打狗,一曰“打鼓”,在明、清二代文献中,此二种说法兼被采用。

1.“打狗”一说是因十五世纪以前,高雄港口一带原为平埔族马卡达奥人居住地,称之为打狗(Takau)社或竹林族,Takau一语为竹林之义,打狗乃其音译。

2. “打鼓”之名,出自平埔话“竹林”(Takau)的音译。在十五世纪以前,这里是平埔番马卡达奥族栖息的地域,为防遇到处抢劫掳掠,无恶不作的倭寇,在港口四周遍筑荆竹,汉人多称之为“打狗社”或意译为“竹林族”。尔后,民间著述多用“打狗”如打狗屿、打狗港、打狗仔港等,但官撰地志辄用雅译的“打鼓”名之,如打鼓山、打鼓港、打鼓澳、打鼓仔港等。

3.日文中也有汉字,而“TAKAU”的音写成日文汉字,就是“高雄”。西元1920年,统治台湾已有二十年的日本总督府,决定重新调整台湾的行政区域;于是,在打狗地区设立了“高雄州”。西元1941年,日本官方禁说台语,由于“高雄”两个字的日语发音与“打狗”的台语发音非常相近,因此“打狗”这个充满乡土气息名字,也就慢慢的被高雄取代。
