The encounter 1/6/2016

It is cold outside
cozy and comfy I’ve got a seat
in the BART from San Francisco to Fremont
It is getting dark, people are quiet
the passengers across me open their eyes
and shut lids again
Some rustlings approaching
then a man with a cardboard
followed by his wife and a baby in her arms
“Help, Family, Anything thank You …”
He looks just like a refugee on TV, or
you couldn’t escape the thought of terrorist

The train is noisy and everyone seems asleep
I pull out my wallet, only a 20 dollar bill left
What the heck
I signal to him and give him 20
Stunned like a goat then to me he bows
He quickly passes the money to the wife
As she wraps the bill into her cloth
The baby wakes up and cries out

They all know what happens
when they close their eyes

This touched the tender part of me.

"They all know what happens
when they close their eyes"

Yes, they know it clearly.
